Talon: Come Fly With Me (Book 1)

Nine year old Matica lives in a remote village on a dry plateau in the Andes of Peru. She moved to Peru when she was five with Australian missionary and schoolteacher parents. Because Matica is trapped in the body of a two year old, her growth handicap has caused her to be rejected by the local people and they would not accept her into their community or allow her to play with the children.

With patience and a sense of adventure Matica befriends a pair of condors. A strong bond and love develops between them.

Matica rescues the egg the condors, Tamo and Tima, are trying to protect from poachers and nurtures it to hatching. The egg hatches on her 10th birthday and she names the new fledging Talon.

Many adventures unfold, including her finally being accepted into the local community. And something totally unexpected…

This is the beginning of many incredible adventures with Talon and Matica. It is a story of hope, determination and love.

Talon: On the Wing (Book 2)

What Matica has dreamed ever since she first befriended the condors is actually happening.
And now the adventures begin.

Finally accepting Matica into their community because of an incredible event, the people from the village love seeing her with Talon and demand she tell them about her adventures with the condors.

Matica is now happy to be small because she can do what she has always dreamed of – fly. She is accepted and loved, and because she is so small can have incredible adventures with her beloved Talon. In the meantime, her friendship with Amos continues to grow…
In this book, she has scores of adventures and near disasters with Talon.

Talon: Flight for Life (Book 3)

Matica and her family are planning a holiday in Australia. She and her father travel to Cajamarca to organise supplies and air tickets. Although she misses her condors on the walk to the city, she sees wondrous scenery, rainforest, animals and birds.

On their walk, disaster strikes. Her father is seriously injured on the way home after being bitten by a huge spider and contracts a high fever. Not knowing what to do, Matica calls to her condors for help. The wait until they arrive is the hardest thing she has ever had to endure.

Journey with Matica through her adventures, laughter and tears. Enjoy the feeling of friendship, love and camaraderie between Matica and her condors, Talon, Tamo and Tima.

Talon: Connected (Book 4)

TALON, CONNECTED is the fourth book of the epic adventure series TALON.

Matica lives in the small village of Pucara with her brother, mom and dad, who is recovering from a near-death experience. Her 11th birthday is coming up and the things she is about to encounter proves she is very brave.
Events take a sudden turn when she is invited to see Elcano, the very old and frail father of the village elder Pajaro. Not once, but three times he summons her. She is afraid of him but he fascinates her. He calls her ‘his daughter’ Why? The amazing things he is about to tell her could be life-changing, things she had never thought about.
Matica nearly jumps out of her skin at what she is told. ‘Who me?’ she questions herself. ‘Really me?’

Will Matica be able to cope with these life-changing disclosures?
In the midst of all this, the poachers are back, looking for eggs and birds – and Talon.

TALON, CONNECTED is far more than a kids’ story. It is a story about growing up, friendship, and the challenge of moral choices and respect. Ride along during the ongoing adventures of Matica and her best friends, the condors Talon, Tamo and Tima, characters many readers already know and have learned to love.

Talon: Encounter (Book 5)

The poachers are back – and they are looking for Talon! They are doing everything in their power to capture him, and if they can’t get him alive, will kill him. Determined to get him at all costs the poachers run up against the might and will of Tamo, Tima and Talon.

It is war. The poachers against the condors, Matica and the Indians – with the poachers even taking hostages to win the war.

With the help of Tamo and Tima, Talon and Matica do the impossible knowing they have to capture and stop the poachers or they will be back.

Between the poachers shooting at the condors, the crows playing their part, and Tamo being shot and injured, Matica goes above and beyond to help her beloved condors.

Action-packed from beginning to end, Talon Encounter will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Author Bio

Gigi SedlmayerGisela (Gigi) Sedlmayer was born on 19 May 1944 in Potsdam, a suburb of Berlin in Germany.

Her family escaped to the West just before the infamous wall went up. They moved around in Germany until finally settling in Munich where Gigi studied architectural drafting and met Albert in 1965, marrying in December 1967. She worked as a civil draftsperson in various private consultancies in Munich.

May 1975, Gigi and her husband moved to New Zealand. Because of language challenges, she started a handicraft business. As a specialty, she made colourful parrots of which she sold thousands in a few years.

1989, they became adoptive parents of twin girls.

September 1992 they moved to Australia.

November 1993 Gigi was diagnosed with cancer. By the grace of God she survived it and seeing her husband writing the story about the adoption, she started to write short stories for competition since her English became increasingly better.

Albert taught her how to use a computer and she wrote many short stories. She entered them in competitions and often got very good reports back, which gave her confidence to go on writing. One day the idea for the TALON series came to her and she spent the next several years bringing the story and the characters to life.

She now loves writing and spends most of her time at the computer, developing new story lines. She also loves travelling, 4×4 touring, swimming, gardening, handcrafting, reading, fossicking and enjoys good adventure DVD’s or going to the movies.

Meet Guest Author Kendra Namednil…

Chris The Story Reading Ape's avatarChris The Story Reading Ape's Blog

SAM 02Hi!  I’m Kendra Namednil, and I’d love to tell you all about Borehole Bazaar, which is a book I’ve written.  Trick is, I’ve already described the book to an exhaustive degree in a great number of other places (Goodreads, InkShares, Facebook, etc.).

So today, I’m going to offer something different.  For the sake of confidentiality and because I am not about to drag anyone, in any way, through the mud, I’m leaving a whole lot of details vague.  If you guess things based on these details, you are incorrect, even if you’re right.

Borehole Bazaar is, thematically, about abuse.  The following are the reasons I personally chose to write about the topic, followed by some of my literary inspirations.

About three, maybe four years ago, I started to have a meltdown.  It was a long time coming, and it manifested in swift mood swings at work as what I…

If You Can Twitch a Finger Then You Can Write

At least that’s the mentality that we’re working with here.  This week was a head spinner only because everything is in the air.  My wife is job hunting again, so we can’t plan anything in advance.  We have ideas of what we’re going to do, but if she has an interview then she goes there.  Next week might be a little different since we have some advanced notice.  Then again, I kind of bought the ingredients for some new and some complicated meals, so going away for too long might be an oops.  Chicken and Cheese Enchiladas take over an hour to make and I’m testing out a Beer Soaked Kielbasa recipe that a friend of a friend gave me.  Meals do tend to get easier as the week goes on, so we’ll see what happens with the mandatory zoo trip.

It doesn’t help that the heat has drained me, so I wear down around early afternoon.  Not sure why it hits so hard, but we have a theory.  If I’m working on anything then I’m up in my room, which gathers heat.  The gradual increase goes unnoticed while I’m focused on something else, so I only become aware of the issue once I stop for an extended period of time.  Like that whole gradual boiling of a frog.  This ends up leaving me drowsy and I made the mistake at one point of napping.  That never goes well because it leaves me worse than before.  Today and tomorrow are for recovering energy because I need to be able to hang with the Energizer Child that I share a house with.

This brings me to a conundrum.  Trying to save money, but still want him to have a fun time.  Yet, we’re repeatedly told to get out of the house.  Too hot for the park or at least staying there for a while.  Everything else that is indoors requires money.  So, is it wrong to spend time inside with his toys where he seems happy?  I don’t think there is, but I’ve been made to feel like it’s bad parenting.  The only ‘free’ indoor thing we have is the Children’s Museum, but we learned that it’s specifically for my wife and son.  I can’t use it unless I gain shapeshifting powers and masquerade as her.  Summer breaks were so much easier when I was the kid in the equation.

Nothing writing-based to really report.  The blurbs were met with praise, so I’ll be setting up as much as I can for the Charms of the Feykin release in September.  Not a lot of volunteers, but that’s becoming the norm.  I don’t wander blogs as much as I used to because I’m running around so much.  I try, but when I have to balance writing, parenting, my own promos, and blogging, something falls by the wayside.  Doesn’t help that I spend so much time staring at a post and not have a clue what to say as a comment.

I’m finishing an outline for the third SIN book, which is fun because this is an idea that was never part of the original set.  One thing I’m noticing is that Sin is always on the run in these stories.  Either being chased, chasing something, or trying to get to a location first.  I did make him a globe-trotting thief who gets into these big conspiratorial treasure hunts that open up sealed areas.  Poor guy just stumbles into them because *censored* and that’s not even half of his problems.  It is nice to work on something for the future when the present is such a chaotic mess.

Besides this story, I’m poking at the Legends of Windemere finale and deciding on who lives and dies.  All of the champions are going to be scarred in some fashion and one is slated for death.  The thing is that I wonder if I need more than one fatality.  The Baron is very powerful, but I don’t like the idea of him slaughtering the heroes until only one stands against him.  So, the question is who would be the most likely ones to die in this battle and how much will it affect future series that play off these events?  Hard to talk about this without dropping spoilers, so sorry for the vagueness.

For anyone into anime, I’m getting into ‘Fairy Tail’.  It’s fun and reminds me of why I like the medium.  Not heavy and rather relaxing to watch.

Goals of the week?

  1. Finish SIN outline.
  2. Set up Charms of the Feykin on Amazon.  At least as far as I can before publishing.
  3. Biking when I can.
  4. Entertain the child.
  5. Keep reading ‘Negima’ when child is entertaining himself.  Manga and comics work best because it’s easier to step away to the kid and come back.
  6. Pray that my wife gets one of the jobs she’s interviewing for.  Far too many hits this year, so our luck has to change at some point.
  7. Start the hype for Charms of the Feykin.  This begins on Monday and should run into September/October.  Reminds me that I have no idea what to do with Thursday.  Maybe a Legends of Windemere question like ‘who is your favorite character and why?’  Sounds lame, but I don’t know how around I’ll be this week.

Fictional Characters

A unique call for authors. Need a promo?

coldhandboyack's avatarEntertaining Stories

Hi gang,

Lisa Burton here. I’m Craig’s personal assistant, and the spokesmodel for his writing career. If you’re into labels, I’m also a robot.

Craig went camping this weekend, and doesn’t know whether he can find an Internet connection or not. I expect him to post some photos if he gets a signal. He told me to post something, just in case. I think he’s afraid of you forgetting about him.

I’m not the kind to wait around to see if Craig has a signal. I’m posting anyway. I can always flutter my eyes and say Oops later.

That means, I can post anything I want, and I want to appeal to the fictional characters out there. You know how it is. You lose friends, your get your heart broken, and when everything fails you actually save the Galaxy. Maybe you finally get the girl. Maybe some of you get…

7 Activities for a Waiting Author

Yahoo Image Search

Yahoo Image Search

  1. Outline, plan, or write another book.  Bet you thought I’d put the obvious one at the end, huh?
  2. Become one with your inner squirrel and spend the days climbing trees in the local park.  Find nourishment on acorns and make a home out of leaves, which will inevitably collapse in the first strong breeze.  On the plus side, the outdoors may get rid of that author pallor.
  3. Avoid all forms of social media and the Internet in general.  Sure, you kept wandering to Twitter and Facebook when you were writing.  Not to mention all the research you did that led to an hour on Wikipedia.  Let’s not even talk about your once a week disappearance into YouTube.  How did you get a chapter done much less an entire first draft?
  4. You know those people who send you messages on your birthday?  Some of them even turn up at the door or inside your home because they have a key.  I believe they are called family and friends.  Well, it’s a good idea to meet with them and figure out the extent of your relationships.
  5. Revisit a sport you loved or try one that always interested you.  Perhaps there’s a club you can join to avoid buying equipment.  Just working up a sweat and . . . are muscles supposed to go pop?
  6. Take up a hobby.  Anything to make the hours go by.  Unless you have a job and then you might want to put some time into that.
  7. Perfect the art of napping.

coldhandboyack's avatarEntertaining Stories

Welcome to another addition of Lisa Burton Radio, the show where I interview the characters from the stories you love. I’m your host, Lisa the robot girl.

In the studio with me today is Shawnee Daniels, a Computer Forensics Specialist at the Revere Police Department. “Welcome to the show, Shawnee.”

“Hey, Lisa. Whassup?”

“I think anything having to do with computers is awesome. What kind of evidence do you collect? Is it financial, private messages, or what?”

“Anything to do with cyber crimes…pictures for the metadata, bank records, all social media information, including private messages, phone numbers, IP addresses, pretty much anything that relates to the crime we’re investigating. We work a lot of fraud cases in my unit.”

“I think that’s fascinating, but our listeners might be more interested in your nightlife. Why don’t you tell us about your secret double life.”

“I can’t stand to see rich…

I sit and stare
The page unmarred
Pristine and white
Waiting for my muse

Pencil touches paper
Gently gliding
As an idea flows
Only to be erased

Minutes pass
Though it may be hours
Nothing seems to stick
Except eraser crumbs

Impatience looming
My hands tremble
Something has to give
For progress to be made

20 Questions with Elmer Seward

Unknown's avatarDon Massenzio

Today we sit down with Virginia author Elmer Seward. Elmer is going to tell us about his interesting work, his inspiration and share a bit about himself as we sample his writing.

Please enjoy this edition of 20 Questions.

Elmer SewardQ1) When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

It’s funny; I never aspired to be a writer.  It began mostly out of boredom during exercise four years ago.  I began fashioning a plot and characters and then found myself compelled to put it on paper.

Q2) How long does it typically take you to write a book?

This question is a bit difficult to answer because I have written my three novels in overlapping timeframes.  As I am completing one novel, I am beginning the next.  Moving back and forth between novels makes the process longer, but I would say twelve to eighteen months is the average.

Book promotion, Amazon, Kindle Countdown, Menowhat? A Memoir, Menopause, Humor, D.G. Kaye

Sue Vincent's avatarSue Vincent's Daily Echo

Just a heads up peeps, my book Menowhat? A Memoir will be on Kindle Countdown promotion starting tomorrow Thursday August 18th until the 25th. It’s unfortunate that Amazon is still keeping with it’s pre-historic policy to only allow readers from the U.S. and the U.K. to purchase books on sale with the countdown. So if you’re American or British, you can take advantage of the .99 cent promo for a few days, and after the 3rd day it will rise to $1.99 before the promo ends.
