Poetry Day: Those Who Divide

(I mean, he does divide, but not how the poem means it.)

(The world has too many of these types.  One of the worst parts is when they get you to believe that those who truly want unity are the real dividers.)

They are the ones with voice

Born with a power

To influence and talk

Expected to lead us

Into the better world

But they always fall

Swallowed by the sins

Pride and greed

Vanity and wrath

They are twisted

By society’s pull

Their voices turn to evil

Spouting hate and fear

Causing friends to fight

And families to splinter

Neighbors become enemies

They ignore their damage

Seeing only the faithful

The ones bowing at their feet

This praise is tainted

Grown from ignorance and terror

Yet it is not enough

Drunk off power from their voice

They become the great dividers

Crying for action

And hurling childish insults

At this who don’t agree

Blindly building a void

A pit of animosity

Between our fellow man

Until the pit is all we see

And their putrid voices

Are all we hear

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.
