Allure of the Gypsies Blog Tour Slots!!

The Cover Reveal was a big success, so I decided that it might be worth a shot to make a final call for Blog Tour volunteers.  This will be occurring over the course of December and I will send you all of the information you need for the post.  All cut and paste with adding pictures where I mention.  Making this very detailed instructions to help those who are nervous about such things.

You will be put on the schedule that will be sent with the pictures and information.  You will only have to post on the day that you’re given.  There will be 2 optional days for anyone who wishes to post on those days.  This will be December 25th and 31st.

Again, I will be making a daily post on my blog to thank the day’s volunteers and do a shout out any published works that they wish for me to promote.  My hope is that my debut can help other authors since it’s the end of the year and everyone wants to end with a bang.

So, let me know if you’re interested in helping as I will be making the schedule tonight.  I can add people on up until Saturday evening.  The email with all of the information will be going out on December 1st.  Thank you to all current and future volunteers.

Allure of the Gypsies: Sari Poems

I Am Sari

My heart is torn
Left to bleed
Mourning for lost loves
A seeping wound
That may never heal
Yet I carry on
For those I still have

I live for love and joy
That will be my path
Harbinger of happiness
And bringer of smiles
A title worn proudly
In memory of my family
And in defiance of my foes

Born to Live

Hair the family blue
From her day of birth
A single cry
That shrank into a smile
Happy to be free
And make some mischief

Always laughing
And smiling for the world
Her spirit bright
Shimmering from her eyes
With mischief on her tongue
A child of joy

Growing up did nothing
To temper her excitement
Loving life and learning
Every trick and skill
Reveling in family
Before it was struck down

Get ready for Allure of the Gypsies on December 1st!

Location Poem: Haven

Quaint and calm
Fringed by serene forests
Haven nestles in the hills
Where bees buzz
And lazy windmills spin

Home to epic heroes
Yet not filled with pesky guests
Only merchants come to call
For precious candy
Or weapons made with skill

The mansion on the hill
Once home to legends great
Home to mayor and his kin
While open to all friends
Even those who crossed a line

None whisper stories
For no adventures ever came
Haven has remained untouched
Purity unmarred
By history’s cruel embrace

Get ready for Allure of the Gypsies on December 1st!

Family in Literature

Swiss Family Robinson

Swiss Family Robinson

Legends of Windemere: Beginning of a Hero had a focus on courage and fighting for what you believe in.  Legends of Windemere: Prodigy of Rainbow Tower had a theme of friendship and loyalty.  So, what’s going to be the them this time around?

Legends of Windemere: Allure of the Gypsies has a major focus on family.  The Callindor family is introduced and interacted with.  Isaiah, the protective mentor of our heroes, comes into conflict with his vampiric brother, Kalam.  Sari must survive the extermination of her clan and find the strength to carry on.  Father issues and proving one’s worth to family run throughout this book.  It’s an interesting theme for me to play with because it will hold onto the other stories as an undercurrent.  After all, the heroes will face death together, which will turn them into a type of family.

I’ve noticed that many literature families go for one of two styles.  The first is that everyone gets along and there is very little conflict.  They Brady Bunch their way through the story, so the main plot has little to do with the family structure.  You know they’re family, but it doesn’t really factor into your thoughts on the characters.  The other version is where the family is at each others throat.  Nobody gets along and the familial conflict takes over the plot whether it’s the main story or not.  Fantasy stories use the feuding family concept a lot, especially when the story is political.  If it isn’t an ambitious advisor then the villain is a disgruntled child.  Usually because there’s always exceptions.

My personal taste in families are ones that get along, but bicker.  Maybe it’s because I come from a family that bickers while still maintaining a relationship.  The siblings have a non-lethal rivalry, the children try to defy the parents, and any number of relationship events that can occur in a family unit.  Nothing over the top unless it’s the key focus of the story.  I’ll admit to having a few subplots like that, but they don’t show up for another book or two.

So, what are your thoughts on family in literature?  Do you have a favorite family or one that you thought was terribly written?

Legends of Windemere: Allure of the Gypsies Cover Reveal!

Legends of Windemere: Allure of the Gypsies is set to debut on December 1st!!!  Let’s kick off this week of hype with a bang and click on the cover to go to the Goodreads page!!!

The epic adventures of Luke Callindor and Nyx continue after their journey down the L’Dandrin River in Legends of Windemere: Prodigy of Rainbow Tower.

Reeling from his failures in their previous adventure, Luke leads his surviving friends to his hometown.  With his mind frayed and his confidence fractured, Luke must face the family and fiancée he left behind.  It is a brief homecoming when the vampire Kalam attacks the village, forcing Luke and Nyx to break into his lair for the key to resurrecting a fallen warrior.  It is a quest that will force both young heroes to reach new heights of strength and power that they never knew they had.

Can Luke and Nyx escape the lair of Kalam?  And, what role will the orphaned gypsy Sari play in their looming destiny?
