Legends of Windemere: Allure of the Gypsies for the Kindle! Review Quotes!

So ends the month long blog tour of Legends of Windemere: Allure of the Gypsies.  It was an interesting ride at $2.99 with higher royalties with fewer sales.  I didn’t break 1,000 sales like the previous books.  I bounced around the rankings with greater leaps than the previous books.  So, it’s been an interesting experience.

To finish off the blog tour, I’m posting a few excerpts from Goodreads and Amazon reviews:

“Let’s talk about action. The author creates interesting action sequences with believable use of fantasy elements. He is very creative. There are also good sections where the characters stretch out and we get to know them better.”  —  Donald L. Mitchell

“The characters are starting to mature (slightly) and acknowledge the fact that they will have to be the front line in that coming struggles. Luke and Nyx are growing more and more powerful as they start to understand, and gain, their power. The addition of Sari was a big plus! She is carefree, fun loving, and provocative.”  — Jacob

“The big strength of this book is the playful interactions between Luke, Nyx, Aedyn, and some other characters you’ll meet along the way. Nyx and Luke have fallen into a really fun brother sister dynamic, with pranks and teasing that makes the relationship both believable and fun.” — Sven

“The book is an excellent addition to the series. I’m happy with the continued growth of the series and the characters within this book. Very well paced, it’s an unbelievable value for 2.99.” — Mark E. Meyer

What Did You Think About 2013?

Might be wondering what the video means.  It could mean something or nothing.  I just had an urge to use it for this.  Maybe that looming deadline has me wanting to turn this into my personal anthem.  Enough about me because it isn’t like I’m going anywhere.  Nope.  People are still stuck with me, my daily posts, and the insanity of me pushing to the next level of authordom.  Like a salmon swimming upstream, but less common sense and the ‘bears’ are more into crippling than eating.  Odd analogy, but I’m tired.

2013 is the year that kicked off a new stage of my life.  I published 3 of my fantasy novels, a horror novella, and a poetry book.  Each of my fantasy novels got onto some Top 100 lists within their first month and hung around the 20’s.  The record is Legends of Windemere: Prodigy of Rainbow Tower at #21 for part of a day.  That’s a great success and I’m looking forward to the day one of my books surpasses it.  I’ll touch on the future tomorrow since I plan on treating January 1st like any other day.

It’s been a busy year with odd stumbling blocks ranging from cracked wisdom teeth to figuring out how to market myself.  Not sure which was more painful, but watching the NY Giants this season is in the top three.  Through the busyness, I made many new friends who I can’t get through the day without hearing from on here.  At least not without being bored out of my mind.  I’ll give special mention here to Ionia, who has become one of the closest friends I’ve ever had.  She really is my best friend and I look forward to seeing what trouble we can get into in 2014.  I assume squirrels, cupcakes, and a high speed chase on a Big Wheels will be involved.  Don’t worry.  We’re both small enough to fit on a Big Wheels without a problem.

It’s been a year of evolution and memories.  Yeah, I know there’s one and a half days to go, but I’m dedicating tomorrow to the future.  So, what did everyone else think about 2013?

Heart of Albion – Tales from the Wondrous Head

Albion cover frontTo celebrate the  new year we are running a Kindle Countdown promotion beginning at midnight on New Year’s Eve and ending at 11 pm on Twelfth Night, January 6th.

“If I am consciously following a woman who is about to engage a Llama in conversation, which I certainly appear to be, it does not impinge too negatively upon my thought processes.”

What does Jack and the Beanstalk have to do with a spiritual quest? What, for that matter, is the nature of the relationship between Salome and the Jester? Why is Wen conversing with a llama in the Yorkshire Dales? And what links the beautiful and sacred landscape that is the Heart of Albion with Breakfast in Slug Town? These, and many other questions, must be considered as Don and Wen continue the journey begun in The Initiate exploring the shadowy…

Dauntless Indies Review

Review of an excellent anthology.

Pamela Beckford's avatarYear 'Round Thanksgiving Project

I gave this four out of five stars.

Three short stories from Sarah Cradit, Brandy Rivers and Felicia Tatum. I love Sarah Cradit’s books so I started with her story Beyond Dusk: Anne. This was one of the novellas that are just extra info for her books and characters. I was not at all disappointed in Anne. It just makes me want even more.

Shadows Fall by Brandy Rivers was a fantasy tale. I have never read any of her books so wasn’t sure what to expect. It had fantasy and explored an erotic theme. I think the story did exactly what was intended – I want to read her books now.

The last story was by Felicia Tatum called Masked Encounters. I thought this story was good but a bit too predictable. I wanted it to be longer so there was a little more intrigue before jumping straight into…

Goal Post: F*&$ the Weather

Opening Rant:  So, I planned on walking to the barber for a haircut.  It used to be close by and now it’s a healthy walk away.  Of course it starts raining.  This is the 3rd or 4th time I’ve tried to get my haircut in the last two months with weather issues or something else.  You might be wondering why I don’t drive there.  Shaggy, annoying hair isn’t life threatening, so I see no reason to waste gas on a trip that I can walk to.  Call me stubborn or immature, which makes we wonder why you’re talking to my family.  I simply want to take a nice walk with a destination and the joy of not being dependent on a money-drinking machine.  People drive too much in this family anyway.  I really do think I was able to keep in better shape when I had to walk or bike everywhere.

As they sinus headache sets in, I’m going to try to get to the point of this post.  That’s really just a list of goals that don’t seem to change much.

  1. GET A MF-ING HAIRCUT!
  2. Write a chapter of Curse of the Dark Wind.
  3. Accept that Allure of the Gypsies won’t sell 1,000 in its first month, but it came damn close.
  4. Design a few characters for War of the Tainted.
  5. Get used to writing 2014 on checks.
  6. Read  more of The Kings of Clonmel.
  7. Stay up until midnight on New Years and then crawl into bed at 12:01 AM.
  8. Fine tune writing/publishing plan of 2014.
  9. Continue wondering how over 300 channels can still have nothing on.  Also, why I can only find Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on the movie channels.  8 movie series and they only play the 2nd one?

Up-Coming Blog Series: Legends of Windemere Themes

Yahoo Image Search

Yahoo Image Search

I’m really at the point where half of the pictures I pick aren’t going to make any sense, but I just want to use them again.  This has nothing to do with the post.

So, last week I mentioned doing posts on the surprise themes of characters and stories in Legends of Windemere.  Some of these might involve spoilers, which I’ll give warnings about.  We’ll see how things go.  I can only think of one character that this will really be a problem for.  Anyway, I’m writing this to see if anyone who has read the books or remembered my posts has a specific character that they want to see an analysis of.  This is going to be a Tuesday event starting the first full week of January.

So far, I have:

  1. Luke Callindor
  2. Nyx
  3. Sari
  4. Nimby
  5. Aedyn Karwyn
  6. Fizzle
  7. Fritz Warrenberg & Bessaria
  8. Gabriel
  9. Trinity
  10. The Lich
  11. The Hellfire Elf
  12. Billy (Not real name, but future evil guy)
  13. Zaria
  14. Timoran Wrath
  15. Selenia Hamilton
  16. Kira Grasdon
  17. Beginning of a Hero
  18. Prodigy of Rainbow Tower
  19. Allure of the Gypsies
  20. Family of the Tri-Rune

The difficulty I have is that I’m already a few books ahead and know all the characters so intimately.  I might think of something as tame or simple while other people find it fascinating.  This is going to be a big exploratory series for me, so I’m excited.
