My Inspirational Poetry:- “FIGHT TILL YOUR LAST BREATH”

AATIF's avatarAWESOME POETRY

TITLE:- FIGHT TILL YOUR LAST BREATH

If Blood is Showering Out of Your veins,

If the Lesions & wounds are Giving you Pain

And Even If Circumstances are Showing your Death,

In spite of that, Fight Till Your Last Breath.

No Matter If you are Sailing On a Tidal Ocean,

No Matter If conditions Prevailing give you Tension

And Even If There is No Time Left For you to Regret,

In spite of that,Fight Till Your Last Breath.

What Happen If Night Always Comes Before the Morning,

What Happens if Every second Intensity of Darkness is Increasing

And Even If, darkness is Giving Brightness a Terrible Threat,

In spite of that,Fight Till Your Last Breath.

What Happens If you feel yourself alone on this Land,

What Happens, If your Shadow Remains your Only Friend

And Even If,you are Deprived of Love From anybody as yet,

In spite of that,Fight Till…

How Self Publishing Can Create a Solid Brand

It’s a big question in the business space: Is it better to self-publish a book or pitch it to a big publisher? It comes back to why you’re publishing a book in the first place. And with self publishing becoming easier than ever, Amazon has become loaded with best-sellers.

Persistence leads to success for Northern Virginia author

For the better part of five years, Kwame Alexander sat in a Woodbridge Panera for five hours a day, toiling away on his novel. Back in those days, the acclaimed author was living in Rippon Landing and raising his teenage daughter as she worked her way through Freedom High School. While he thought he’d found a winning formula for a children’s book, penning a tale about two, young twin brothers written entirely in poetic verse, he endured rejection…

Did Things Go To Plan? HA HA HA!

Chasing Bedlam Coming Next Week!

The hope is I’ll get it set up on Monday and make the big announcement on Tuesday, which is when I’ll send the HTML to all the volunteers.  Thank you again for helping out with this.

This week didn’t exactly go as planned.  That 4 section day last week must have been a fluke because it’s been a struggle to get 3 a day.  I’m actually writing this on Thursday in order to use all of Friday to write.  Let’s be honest.  I’ll probably fail and miss finishing 2 Ichabod Brooks stories by one section.  On the plus side, the story I have to get through this time has an old friend returning and I can get a section done tonight.  No way I’m getting to that 3rd one and next week is the only one I have before my son gets a week off from school.  This is actually EXACTLY what was going on around this time of year in 2016.  Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing.  Just let me get to March with at least 9 of the 12 stories under my belt.  That’s all I ask at this point.

Here’s where things get really funny in regards to identical incidents.  Last year, I was chugging along on Legends of Windemere: The Spirit Well and had my schedule marked up nicely.  Then a snowstorm hit and the kid was home.  This caused a delay and resulted in my hurting myself while shoveling.  By the time I recovered, he was on his Winter Break and I was trying to figure out how to get Crossing Bedlam some more traction.  I find myself in the same position with Life & Times of Ichabod Brooks and Chasing Bedlam.  A plus side is that I won’t be putting a ton of money and promo stuff on ‘Bedlam’ since I’m low on funds.  Windemere takes precedence, so I have to depend on word of mouth and the reviews of strangers to push ‘Bedlam’.  Needless to say, I’m trying to prepare myself for pain.

(ADDITION: Friday ended up being a snow day too.  Tried to get back in the saddle and got shot before I could reach the horse.)

Writing and shoveling was really it for the week.  At least it should be ending on a good note.  By the time this post goes live, I’ll be . . . probably on my way to a mall food court for lunch.  Already got the tickets for our Valentine’s Day movie, which will be JOHN WICK CHAPTER 2.  Harder to pull off than one would think since the local theaters are putting a lot of faith in 50 Shades.  The nearest one isn’t even showing John Wick, so we’re going a little further and have to catch a later showing.  Nothing says fun like hanging around a mall for 2 hours.  The stores we typically wander around are gone or would result in the wife spending too much money.  I’m looking at you, Hot Topic.  Then again, that place isn’t what it used to be.

I’ll get back to the one or two comments on this post tonight.  Maybe.  We taped THE NICE GUYS a few weeks ago and really should get around to watching that.  Although, that might only stop me from writing.  It’s hard to think straight since I’m all achy and chilled from shoveling.

One thing I’m trying to figure out is what I had planned for April.  This is when the next Windemere book is supposed to go live.  I wanted to start with a full week of posts that focus on Luke Callindor’s relationships, which are all at risk in Ritual of the Lost Lamb.  I have Nyx, Sari, and Kira as the main ones.  The thing is that I’m not sure if I should do individual ones for the others.  Timoran, Delvin, and Dariana could be in one post since they don’t have the lover/sister thing with Luke.  Fizzle should definitely have a solo one, but I keep wondering if I’m missing someone else.  This would be the week that leads up to my birthday and the release.  Believe that hits right on Passover and my son’s Spring Break too.  Just can’t win around this time of year.

I had other thoughts swimming around, but I’m not sure what to do about them.  New ideas and reforged ones that connect to those dang superheroes.  Still debating on if I should keep them in Windemere or move them back to Earth.  All depends on how much freedom of setting I want since Earth means I need to pick real places.  Level of technology and magic are influences too.  One of these days I’ll figure it out.

Goals of the week?

  1. Publish Chasing Bedlam and do promos.
  2. Write 2 more Ichabod Brooks stories.
  3. Poke at the ‘never to be published’ idea when I can’t write.
  4. Laundry
  5. Watch JOHN WICK 2.
  6. Watch more Soul Eater.

Angry Hero Anonymous Meeting: Now With Glow in the Dark Nametags

Wreck It Ralph

Wreck It Ralph

Timoran Wrath– “I guess we are supposed to talk about our tempers.  Not really sure why I am here since I have control over mine.”

Lloyd Tenay–  “Same here.  The kid can be a bit of a rager though.”

Cassidy-  “First of all, you have very little impulse control when it comes to killing.  You took out five people on the trip here and we only walked down the block.  Second of all, I have good reason to be angry.  The b*&@$ took my . . . what was that?”

Lloyd– “Ha Ha!  You got censored!”

Nyx–  “This is so stupid.  I haven’t lost my temper in a long time.  Not in the way I used to anyway.  Mess with my friends and I’ll burn you to a crisp, but that’s a reason for me losing control.”

Luke Callindor–  “I guess I snap at times, but only when I’m backed into a corner.  Even then I might not go too far.  Maybe we should give tips on how to avoid losing our tempers.”

Lloyd– “Killing, watching television, killing, needlepoint, killing, eat a really good pizza, and killing.  Even better if you can combine some of those together.”

Nyx–  “This is why we rarely invite you to hang out. Just think about how you can make a mistake if you aren’t thinking clearly.  The thought of being responsible for hurting my friends is-”

Cassidy– “Easy for you to say and do when you aren’t living in a lawless wasteland.  You have no idea how much one’s anger can keep them alive.  People will stay away from a maniac.”

Timoran– “I wish to point out that you travel with a maniac.  In fact, you sought him out for help.”

Lloyd–  “And the big man scores a point.  To be fair, it also helps to be friends with the craziest person in the room.  What do you do to remain calm?”

Nyx–  “Good question.  I always thought barbarians are born knowing how to keep their rage under control.  That doesn’t make a lot of sense though.  Such behavior has to be learned, right?”

Timoran– “It is difficult to explain.  Our temper tantrums are usually allowed to go unchallenged in the hopes that we learn control.  The true training does not come until we are five.  We are drilled on accessing our rage little by little until we tame the inner beast entirely.  Some go too far and require a firmer hand, but every barbarian learns control at some point.  It is more of a cultural thing than anything the rest of you can do.  Not to mention you’re all adults and harder to change than a child.”

Cassidy–  “Don’t give Lloyd an opening to a joke like that.”

Lloyd–  “Awww, she knows me too well.”

Luke–  “Adults have to learn control too.  There are happy children that go through tough times and become angry adults.  It might not be easy, but there has to be a way.  Those of us in Windemere could do it through collecting new happy memories and finding reasons to remain calm.  Not sure what the Bedlam people would do.”

Dawn Addison–  “You strangle your enemies with moonbeams!”

Nyx–  “Nope.  Not dealing with that nutcase.  I’m out!”

Timoran–  “I believe I have something to tend to as well. It requires Luke’s help.”

Cassidy–  “I’m just going to head out.  She’s not worth the bullet.”

Lloyd–  “Wait up!  I have too many people to kill before I die!”

Dawn–  “Nobody lets me have any fun.”

…Authors… what do yeez want the artwork on yer book covers to do?

Guest Post with Lyn Horner: Lara and Delvin in ‘Talk of Destiny’

Cover Art by Jason Pedersen

Cover Art by Jason Pedersen

Rescuing Lara

Winner of the Paranormal Romance Guild 2015 Reviewers Choice Awards.

(Today we have Lyn Horner and Lara Spenser from Rescuing Lara, which is available on Amazon.  Also, don’t forget to check out Legends of Windemere: the Spirit Well to get more of Delvin Cunningham.)

The sound of clacking practice swords filled the air as Delvin and his new companion wandered the academy’s courtyard. He yawned and scratched his hair to pick out an errant twig leftover from sleeping on the grass. The former Mercenary Prince’s ice blue eyes took in every corner of the area, the shadows earning an extra moment of staring. Satisfied that they are safe, he helped the golden-brown eyed woman in a wheelchair to the central fountain. Delvin watched her, his attention lingering at the scar on her right cheek. He was about to ask her about it when he thought better of prying and handed her an apple.

“We should be safe here,” Delvin promised, waving to a passing instructor. Reaching back, he ran his hand through the water and sighed at the retreating fish. “Luke really has to show me that animal trick. Anyway, the headmistress has this place warded like you wouldn’t believe. Good thing I found you in the forest too. The Day of Darkness is coming soon and I don’t think that wheelchair would help you escape undead on uneven terrain. What did you say your name was again?”

“You can call me Lara Spenser. It’s actually an alias I’m using to evade capture by my enemies, the Hellhounds. They are responsible for my uncle’s death. He was killed in a car crash that they staged, and I was injured.” Looking self-conscious, she touched the red scar on her cheek and smoothed her long, brightly patterned skirt. “That’s why I’m in this wheelchair. I . . . I hope it won’t be for much longer.” Gazing at the fountain, Lara said, “What a beautiful setting! Thank you for bringing me here. I don’t remember how I came to be in the forest, but I realize it wasn’t safe. Is that why this place is warded, as you call it?”

“Not exactly,” Delvin replied with a smile. Shrugging his shield off his back, the warrior rans a finger along the winged stag emblazoned on the front. “Selenia was the Mercenary Queen before she created the academy. She has a few enemies out there, so it’s a smart idea to have some protection against whatever they can throw at her. Best to put as many obstacles between yourself and an attacker as you can. I wouldn’t worry about Hellhounds since one of the layers is designed specifically to injure demons. Worst case scenario is one of the veterans will roar and stare angrily until the dogs run away.”

Lara laughed lightly. “I didn’t make myself clear. The Hellhounds are not really dogs. They are humans who wish to capture me and others like me. You see, we are Guardians of Danu, our great Mother Goddess. There are seven of us. We each guard an ancient scroll. Each scroll contains a secret prophesy bestowed by Danu upon our ancient Irish ancestors, the Tuatha Dé Danann. The Hellhounds believe these prophesies will allow them to gain wealth and power. We must not let them succeed in stealing the sacred scrolls.

Thank you, Delvin, for protecting me until I can return to my own world and carry out my duty as High Guardian.”

“I’m happy to help while I rest from my own adventures,” Delvin said, running a hand through his brown hair. Picking a twig out of the mess, he flicks it away and makes it a note to bathe later. “My friends and I were chosen to save the world from this immortal warlord. Though it feels like we were more . . . forged than chosen by the gods. From the stories we’ve been told, others have taken this path before and failed. So it’s hard to tell if we’re the ones to succeed or another group destined to die. I have high hopes considering we’ve made it further than previous champions and we’re all rather unique. Honestly, my destiny sounds a lot easier to handle than your prophecy. Protecting something is always harder than hunting an enemy down.”

“It seems to me that you and your friends are very much like the Guardians. You carry a heavy responsibility just as we do. Speaking of which, I sense my comrades calling to me. I will not forget your kindness. Goodbye for now.” Waving to her host, Lara shimmered and faded into the gathering darkness.

The Astronomer’s Crypt, on Lisa Burton Radio

coldhandboyack's avatarEntertaining Stories

Don’t touch that dial, you’ve found Lisa Burton Radio. Coming at you with 1.21 jigawatts of power, this is the only show that interviews the characters from the books you love. I’m your host, Lisa the robot girl, and with me today is Mike Teter. Mike is an astronomer with the Carson Peak Observatory in New Mexico. “Welcome to the show, Mike.”

“Hi Lisa, it’s great to be here. Thanks for having me on the show.”

“My bio says you’ve recently returned to the observatory after a two year hiatus. What happened, grass wasn’t greener?”

“Actually, leaving the observatory was the hardest thing I’d ever done. You see, a terrible blizzard blew in my last night there and the two of us working that night decided to leave the site. Ron Wallerstein drove ahead of me. He was going a little too fast when he reached a bridge spanning a…

Smack on the Nose & Spritz with the Water Bottle

Wolverine

Wolverine

Angry heroes can really cause a mess.  It isn’t that they don’t know about hygiene or can’t figure out how to use a vacuum.  More that they lose control and attack the nearest person or object.  Yes, that hat rack your ancestor brought over on the Mayflower and its authentic Sears price tag is in danger.  I mean, you just can’t live with these people unless you have your affairs in order and rental insurance.  So, what can you do to make things bearable or even entertaining?

  1. Move to a new house.  Seriously, this is the easiest thing to do.  Let the angry hero trash the big mansion and you’ll enjoy your apartment.
  2. Barring the existence of a healing factor or some other reason the guy/gal can’t be injured, you can purchase a tranquilizer gun.  Just put him down with enough to knock out a bull elephant and make sure to have poison control on speed dial.  Most important thing here is to not tell the angry hero that you own a tranquilizer gun and make sure to be hiding when you tag him.  Never be around when he/she wakes up though.
  3. Record their rampages and play it back for them at a later date.  This won’t really get the point across, but you can use this as proof that they owe you for all of the furniture they broke.  If you do manage to shame them then take advantage of the opportunity and see if they’d be willing to stop destroying things.  Chances are that they won’t, but you can be happy that you tried.
  4. Set up a chore chart that adds more cleaning up to their side every time they make a mess.  They might think twice about taking their rage out on the kitchen over a stuck pickle jar if it means a third week of bathroom duty.  This has to be agreed upon too because just springing the system on them will result in you being tossed through a window.  Even worse will be the ‘I don’t do windows’ pun that follows.
  5. Keep all of your stuff locked in your room.  Cheap dishes and plasticware for the kitchen.  One-ply toilet paper and rough towels in the bathroom.  All furniture will be beach chairs and the table is something you picked up off the curb.  If this angry hero is about to go off again then let him.  Not like you care about anything . . . where did you put your grandmother’s urn again?
  6. Hire a live-in anger management person.  That way, you can go out without leaving your angry hero unsupervised.  There is no guarantee that he or she will calm down though.  In fact, you could make things worse with this tactic.  Still, it isn’t like your kneecaps will be the ones broken by the end of the week.
  7. Smack him on the nose with a sledgehammer or spritz him with a spray bottle full of vodka.  Neither will work, but it’ll be funny.
