The Knight of Draykcab (Sestina Style Poem)

Rusty Sword from Rule of Roses

Rusty Sword from Rule of Roses

Knuckles white as he grips his sword
A layer of rust left by time
The young knight takes a step
Upon the warrior path
Alone within the forest
To stand against the shadows

No protection from the shadows
He depends only on his sword
To see him through the forest
Where none have a sense of time
Each wandering a lonely path
That crumbles at each step

With courage in every step
The knight plunges into shadows
Defeating all that block his path
With his rusty sword
That is a victim of time
Finding new life in the forest

The knight tires of the forest
Entering the mountains with a step
Covering the distance in little time
In pursuit of the shadows
That fear his treasured sword
Forging his knightly path

Master of darkness rules the path
That winds back to the forest
Trapping the one with rusty sword
Refusing to let him stray a step
Bombarding the knight with shadows
That fall to his flails every time

The knight decides it’s time
To reach the end of his path
And pierce the eternal shadows
Bringing peace to the forest
His adventure’s final step
And the slumber of his rusty sword

Meet Author Lincoln Cole

coldhandboyack's avatarEntertaining Stories

Lincoln is coming to us today via 4-Wills Publishing. So let’s all meet Lincoln:

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

When I was about ten I realized I wanted to tell stories. I loved reading books, especially by Stephen King, and I knew I wanted to do that when I grew up.

How long does it take you to write a book?

It depends on the book. Sometimes it takes about a month, and other times it can take as much as a year to put it all together. I’ve gotten better at writing a first draft, but I have a lot less time to write now as well.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

I like to outline my stories, but then I completely abandon the outline after only a few stories. It doesn’t make me like doing it any less…

Heroes of Windemere: Timoran Wrath

Hair– Red
Eyes– Blue
Race– Human Barbarian
Hometown– Stonehelm
Career– Barbarian
Weapon(s) of Choice– Great Axe
Debut Book– Legends of Windemere: Family of the Tri-Rune

Unlike his companions, Timoran Wrath is not a complicated man.  He is an exile from the Snow Tiger Tribe, but he has retained his sense of honor and loyalty.  While he is an experienced and capable warrior, Timoran is also wise enough to know when to talk or intimidate his way out of trouble.  Like most of his tribe, he has complete control over his primal rage and only unleashes it when necessary.

Being older and more mild-mannered than the other champions, Timoran is a source of stability.  No matter the situation, he stands by his friends and makes sure to keep a level head.  He rarely takes the lead and will patiently wait for an opportunity to interject his opinions and insights to a conversation.  This quiet demeanor causes their enemies to mistake him for nothing more than muscle, which is a mistake.  While Timoran follows orders most of the time, he is skilled at one-on-one tactics and defending others with a focus on adjusting to battlefield situations.

For all of his strength and experience as a warrior, Timoran is a kind man and always there to talk over a drink.  It is difficult to push is buttons, which makes him an excellent foil against Nyx’s temper, Luke’s recklessness, and Sari’s love of mischief.  Even so, his younger ‘siblings’ have filled a void in his life that was created when he was forced to leave his tribe.  For the first time in years, Timoran Wrath feels like he has a place that he can call home.

While Timoran debuts in Family of the Tri-Rune, his greatest adventure and the secrets of his past takes place in:

Welcome to Hell Bent, Pennsylvania, on Lisa Burton Radio

coldhandboyack's avatarEntertaining Stories

Welcome to another edition of Lisa Burton Radio. I’m your host, Lisa the robot girl, and today’s show is all about hybrids.

Today’s sponsor is the Hell Bent series from Kayla Matt. This series is a hybrid in that it includes graphics along with the narrative. How cool is that?

My guest today is Travis Malone, and he’s a hybrid of human and monkey. “Welcome to the show, Travis.”

“Hi! So…it turns out that your number’s, like, one digit away from the one for a local pizza place. Today’s been one of those stressful days with a ton of customers and running around to get everything done because we’re a little short-staffed today.. But my boss is a huge fan of yours, and I’m pretty sure this would make her freaking day, so HI!”

“As a hybrid, do you find it difficult being accepted by society at large?”

“Ooh…yeah, I’d…

The Forgotten Fleeting Thoughts

Dory from Pixar

Dory from Pixar

 You appeared at night
The final moments before sleep
Too late to write you down
Yet I am confident
That you will see the sun

Except that you are gone
A sense of loss
Tickling at my brain
Phantoms of an idea
That may never return

I shall mourn the vanished
As I continue through the day
Until part of it returns
Before I fall asleep
And leaves by dawn again
