Who Wants to Go After Legends of Windemere?

Joker

Joker

Sin–  He’s doing another character conversation?

Clyde–  You can tell he’s freaking out since he started the champions’ final book.  Even with it being published next December, his confidence is shaking.

Darwin Slepsnor–  I wanna go next!  This way I can help people.

Sin–  Better you than me.  Hate to be the guy who comes after the last series.  Imagine if it bombs?  Then there goes all of Windemere.

Mystery Hero–  At least he can talk about you three.  I’m connected to Legends of Windemere and count as spoilers.  Means I might get written next year, but not published until long after the final book.  2018 if I’m lucky and this guy is still doing the author thing.

Clyde–  He does have that problem hanging over his head.  None of us get a turn if he quits like everyone wants him to.  Anybody remember those 10 years of him trying to balance a real job, family, and writing?

Sin–  That was a nightmare.  He didn’t even have the kid or other people around him at the time.  I can’t really complain because he always made time for me.

Darwin–  Me too.  I’m very relaxing and fun.  Helping people and having fun is all I’m about.

Savior–  At least you guys are on the schedule.  His superhero stuff is still a mess, so I hope he focuses on that long enough to get an idea.

Sin–  That doesn’t even factor the fairies, the bounty hunter, the fighters, the historical tales, and whatever else is in his head.  You notice that he’s having trouble recalling his ideas lately?

Clyde–  I think this year took a lot out of him.  Probably why 2017 will be mostly editing, outlining the next series, and only writing two new books.  Maybe 3 if he decides to keep Bedlam going.

Darwin–  Awww, I like that one.  Maybe I can go help them.

Mystery Hero–  Don’t even think about it, Slepsnor.  The fantasy characters aren’t allowed to go to the Shattered States without permission.  We have no business being there.

Savior–  I hear rumors that Super Earth might return.  All of the superheroes may be leaving Windemere if that’s true.  That probably delays us even further.

Clyde–  Okay.  We have to see who’s going next.  Sin is being patient since his stories connect to so many others.  He’d have to be taking breaks between his stuff anyway.  Elysium is off-limits for a bit since that connects too much to Legends of Windemere and all the others have problems.  That leaves me and Darwin.

Darwin–  I should go because I’m a happy hero.

Clyde–  I’m going next.

Sin–  And why is that?

Clyde–  Because I’m tired of being left on the shelf.  Any questions?

Have Bags, Will Travel D.G. Kaye

Get This Book FREE on Amazon November 28th through December 2nd.

D.G. Kaye is back, and as she reflects on some of her more memorable vacations and travel snags, she finds herself constantly struggling to keep one step ahead of the ever-changing guidelines of the airlines–with her overweight luggage in tow. Her stories alert us to some of the pitfalls of being an obsessive shopper, especially when it comes time for D.G. to bring her treasures home, and remind us of the simpler days when traveling was a breeze.

In her quest to keep from tipping the scales, D.G. strives to devise new tricks to fit everything in her suitcases on each trip. Why is she consistently a target for Canada customs on her return journeys?

D.G.’s witty tales take us from airports, to travel escapades with best friends, to reflections on how time can change the places we…

…Christmas is nigh, here’s Authoress Maureen Turner with some goodies…

Seumas Gallacher's avatarSeumas Gallacher

…today’s Guest Post is prolific Authoress Maureen Turner (it means ‘she writes lots of stuff’, Mabel)… it’s the sharing time of year, and she’s got sum’thing to share with us… I’ll let her tell a bit about herself first:

maureen

Born in Birmingham, I now live in rural Gloucestershire. I wrote my first novel (First Breath) shortly before being made redundant by Gloucestershire County Council. Prior to this, I had worked as a Classroom Assistant for twenty five years and I now wondered how I was now going to fill my time. I found that I was worrying needlessly. Since finishing full time employment I have penned four novels and two collections of short stories all published as e-books. Four of them were later published as traditional paperback books.
My constant companion as I write is my Jack Russell rescue dog…

Inches Gained: A Short Week Survived

Where to even start?  Mostly because there isn’t much to report since I got some writing done and that was about it.  I’m 6 chapters away from the end of Warlord of the Forgotten Age, which shouldn’t take more than 2 weeks.  Fingers are crossed that I can release the next book right after I finish, but things have been chaotic.  This time of year is always tough to get everything together.  Still, I’m holding onto hope that I get everything out before Christmas.  Thinking of doing a Kindle Countdown on the first collection of Legends of Windemere books around that time too.  It’ll kick off after the release since if it’s a last minute thing.

I started scheduling some January posts, but that isn’t very interesting.  Some of the presents for my son came in, but are waiting until the holidays.  One of them is a 940 piece Lego set, which I spent a few minutes staring at like it’s going to be my personal Mount Everest.  He helps for a bit, but runs off after 15-20 minutes.  Sometimes he leaves with the instructions too.  I will admit that this giant thing looks awesome.  I can write all this here because he doesn’t read my blog.

Thanksgiving was fun with good conversations, new friends, good food, and a few new drinks for me to taste.  We have round two today with family visiting, so I’m not getting any writing done.  Not unless I sneak some in before noon.  Tomorrow is Moana in the morning and maybe some writing in the afternoon.  The thing is that I ended the week at the end of a big chapter.  The Baron’s games are at an end, the champions have battled through twists and revelations that could no longer be hidden, and now they get to come face-to-face.  It feels like a big scene that I should take seriously.  Doing it Monday after biking makes more sense, so maybe I’ll use free time to do more January posts.  Get that off my plate to make more editing room for the next two books.

I still don’t know what I’m going to write next year.  I know I can do another Ichabod, Bedlam, and/or Raven story.  The thing is that those are still small and side projects.  The big one will be done and waiting for editing and publishing.  There is a December post that touches on this, but I’ll admit to being flooded with doubts and fear.  Pretty sure I’ve said this before.  The stand alone book that covers something leftover from Legends of Windemere might be a nice bridge even though I probably won’t publish it until the summer of 2018.  Don’t want to release a book with spoilers too close to the finale.  It really would only reveal the survivors, dead, and various fates, but those are important pieces.  Beyond that, I need to strongly consider entering the realm of the Dawn Fangs with War of Nightfall or The Nightfall War.  Still deciding between those two series titles.  Thinking of having each book title be a single word.  Maybe I’ll do a test run of titles in January and see what people think.

That’s really all I can think about talking about today.  People really enjoyed several of the posts this week, which made me happy.  Getting harder and harder to come up with subjects since I’ve been at this for so long.  Things might pick up when I have a new series to promote since the current one runs too many spoiler risks.  A benefit of the vampire series is that the stories are rather self-contained.  Every book has the same characters with some new editions, but the adventures center around events that transform the vampire world.  For example, the first one is when the Dawn Fangs first show up.  The next one is a couple decades later when a strange Dawn Fang appears and they learn something else about the species.  Not going to say what.  Now, I’m just rambling and letting my mind wander.

Goals for the week:

  1. Write 3-4 chapters.
  2. Develop a hatred of leftovers.
  3. Sit down with wife to look at anime deals on Amazon since we have $60 in gift cards.  The kid already made out like a holiday bandit.
  4. Do a few January posts.
  5. Dance like nobody is looking because nobody will be looking.
  6. Swear it was like that when I got there.
  7. Listen again to ‘Free by Powerman 5000’ because it is a song I can really relate too.
  8. Bike a bit.
  9. Continue being subjected to ‘Kung Fu Panda 3’ and ‘Hotel Transylvania 2’.  Attempt begging for ‘Angry Birds’, ‘Lego Movie’, or any other movies.
  10. Find new depths of disappointment in the human race and contemplate the idea that we’re actually the dumbest species on the planet.
  11. Regret writing #10 and not deleting it.
  12. See if the NY Giants can get 6 wins in a row.
