(We’ve all seen people like this.)
I saw you
Nostrils blazing in my rear view
Your tongue licking your lips
As you rocket by me
Windows shaking in your wake
Those around you are fools
Inching along at fifty
Kissing bumpers as they go
You are a true mastermind
Finding the smallest gap
And plugging in at eighty
Ignoring the honking horns
The highway is your playground
Nothing can stop you
You are invincible
Until your car hits the overpass
And you keep sailing on

Great descriptions in this poem. I saw someone speed by on the highway shoulder as if the rest of us were silly for remaining in traffic. Until a construction barrier became apparent. He tried to get back over but no one let him in. He might still be there to this day.

I see that happen all the time. Surprised he didn’t force his way back in.

Love the ending. I very much dislike the road warriors.

I love when they zoom past and then you stop directly behind them at the next traffic light.
