Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.
Nice! Funny, too, since one of my poems has evolved into a song in my head, and I hear it over and over. With stories, I just write them down to make the loop stop, but I don’t know how to write music, just sing it and sort-of-kind-of figure out what sounds the sheet music mean.
I used to be able to read music, but now I’m totally lost. Was never very good at it in the first place. So I’m always impressed by people who can write songs. Probably more the instrumental than lyrical songs.
Love that poem! I sometimes think of tunes for the words I’ve written. But I can’t read music, so they won’t find their way into actual songs until I can learn to read music.
Wow. Tolkien’s tune is quite different from the one used in the movie!
I also prefer this one. I watched the behind the scenes doc for the first Hobbit. The guy who rearranged the song explained by he did what he did. But I think this one works better.
Funny how something like humming can irk people. Then again, I guess it depends on where you are. Humming a happy tune while stuck in a crowded subway car might not be for everyone. ๐
I’m one of those people that constantly have a tune in their head, even in my sleep. It took me years to learn not everyone’s like that.

I have more pictures than songs. If there is a tune then it probably got stuck there from the radio. ๐ How do you get the songs out?

By replacing them with another one. They come and go as they please. All can do is try and remember not to hum in front of others.

Nothing wrong with humming. Though I guess it depends on where you are.

Absolutely. It tends to be frowned upon during, say, funerals.

There goes my plan to hum ‘Don’t Fear the Reaper’ at a random funeral. Now what am I going to do over the weekend?

Yes, humming “Walking On Sunshine” at a funeral would be frowned upon, unless there are still Flower Children active. ๐

Can’t play it off as wishful thinking for the deceased?

Yeah. I actually prefer this version better. Seems simpler and more natural for a bunch of Middle Earth Dwarves.

Never saw that. Why did he do it?

Loved the poem. Can’t say there is music in my head but does tinnitus count?

Good question. Better than some songs I’ve heard recently.

Loved the poem. I’m forever humming something or another — often it bugs people actually, so I have to put a lid on it ๐

I hate those. Always get pushed to the back and unable to get to my floor.
