Return of the . . . Not Yet? Off Again I Go

I don’t even know where to start on this one.  Life is coming fast and hard lately.  Last weekend was my sister’s wedding, which was fun.  Food and drink was great.  Brother-in-law picked some great specialty drinks.  Everyone had a blast.  Of course, this led into the past week where people went back to school and work.  This in turn is going into the following:

  • My birthday tomorrow- ‘Ghost in the Shell’ matinee and then I dunno.
  • Passover- Monday through whenever.  This is the one with food restrictions that make going out a pain.
  • Spring Break-  Got the kid from Monday until the following Tuesday.

As you can see, my head is going to be spinning and I’ll be struggling to keep up with everything here.  Family is coming, a trip to the zoo, maybe Legos, a play, and other events will be taking over my time.  Is there any wonder that I can barely find any time to promote or get involved in writer groups?  I’m always left wondering what I can do and judging by the amount of events coming my way.  Projects aren’t prioritized in this fashion, which is why things have become a horrible mess.  Maybe that’s another reason my blog is steadily turning dry.  Just so many fires and I’ve going only one bucket of water to handle the looming inferno.

Speaking of things on fire, I’ve . . . Got no idea how that segue was supposed to work.  I’m not even sure I spelled that word right. Anyway, everything going on has caused some delays on Ritual of the Lost Lamb.  Busted computers, unexpected events, expected events, and other badly timed things might push it to early May.  This puts it very close to the Ichabod Brooks release, which poses a question.  Can I release both books and promote them both?  I could feasibly push Ichabod back to July, but I was hoping to release soon after the last intro scene goes up.  The hard part here is that Legends of Windemere books require big posts that list all of the previous volumes.  I don’t know if I could do that and add Ichabod on.  The other possibility is to simply promote the two books and maybe mention Beginning of a Hero as a freebie and the Ichabod Brooks short story for 99 cents.  That way both books get a push and it isn’t a gigantic, confusing post.  I won’t be doing an excerpt for either, so it’s just the books, blurbs, sales info, and author info.  I’m going simple.

Speaking of going simple, I have to do more with less in terms of promoting.  Money is coming in slow and I haven’t been getting a lot from some sites.  Not that I can see since The Spirit Well sales dropped off really quickly.  I might just do the usual with Ritual of the Lost Lamb and try to push Ichabod through free sites and whatever else I can figure out.  I keep meaning to sit down and figure it out, but I can’t get a moment’s peace to do it.

In other news, I started writing Protecting Bedlam (good title?) and made it through the first 4 chapters.  I’m having fun with it and poking fun at whatever catches my interest without going too far.  Seems everyone has a different joke or area that they want me to target right away.  There was so much to work with that I simply wrote and whatever appeared got to stay.  This has lead to an interesting set of villains.  It’s hard since I know this will be blog only, but the length is getting meaty.  Cassidy and Lloyd get into some big fight scenes.  They’ve been rather irritable too.  She’s a little Nyx-like with how she threatens and he’s been ranting a lot.  Maybe I’m just thinking about the latest chapter, which had me on edge.  I’m skirting a lot of controversial topics and the real landscape keeps changing, so I wonder if I have to alter other things.  At least when I’m in the writing, I simply want to have fun.

So the few people reading this will see that I’m just swimming through the chaos for the next week or two.  I might be able to write a section every night, but it will depending on how much the kid wears me down.  I’ll be happy getting even one chapter done by the time he goes back to school.  That way I can finish this in mid-May and tackle editing the last two Legends of Windemere book.

Goals?

  1. Survive Birthday.
  2. Survive Passover.
  3. Survive Spring Break.
  4. Watch ‘Ghost in the Shell’.
  5. Write when I can.
  6. Zoo, Legos, and other stuff.
  7. Prepare for Ritual of the Lost Lamb release.  Maybe I’ll just do it once I get everything together.  Not like I have anything to lose.

Hello, everyone!  We have a guest today.  My thanks to John W. John recently re-launched the first book in his “John J. Cannon” trilogy, My GRL.  Click here for details.  He also has the marvelous blog I mentioned above, Fiction Favorites.  John uses a different theme for each day of the week.  Mondays are a fun take on lists with Top Ten Things Not to Do.  So now I present John’s part of this collaboration.

Indie Author Friday: Charles E. Yallowitz #scifi #fantasy #LGBT

Teri Polen's avatarBooks and Such

Charles Yallowitz is here today with the most recent addition to his Shattered States series, Chasing Bedlam.  If you’re unfamiliar with Charles’s work, he’s also the author of the Legends of Windemere fantasy series, with twelve books to date.  And he presents a strong argument why Spiderman would win in a fight with Batman.

Lloyd and Cassidy’s last adventure was to honor a life. This time they are out to end one.

It was a normal, violent mission to Texas that should have had nothing more than beer-induced hiccups. That is until an old enemy makes off with Cassidy’s jeep and most of their gear. Needless to say, she’s pissed off and challenging Lloyd for the psychopath of the month award. With the mouthy serial killer by her side, she is going on the warpath from Dallas to Miami even if it means declaring war on the drug cartels.

Luke & Nyx: Little Brother and Big Sister

They fought in their first encounter and didn’t get off on the right foot.  Yet, you wouldn’t know from how they act now.  There is the love Luke has toward Sari and Kira and then there’s the love he has toward Nyx.  It stems from shared suffering and a friendship that neither can imagine living without.  When one is sad, the other is there with a shoulder or a favorite food.  Keep in mind that they call each other ‘big sister’ and ‘little brother’.  It’s reached the point where it’s difficult for them to use their names instead of the titles unless they’re angry.  So, you can imagine what’s going with Nyx this time.

coldhandboyack's avatarEntertaining Stories

Hello, everyone, Harmony Kent here. Welcome to my tour stop on the Story Empire Roadshow. First of all, I would like to give Craig a huge thank you for hosting me today. Yesterday, we did a bit of exploring around the murky world of The Forest of Dean, the setting for my Mystery/thriller, The Glade. Today, having had so much fun the first time around, I thought we could revisit an interview between Craig’s awesome Lisa Burton and one of my side characters from Interludes (the naughty book). And, remember, throughout this week, I’ve set up offers on Kindle deals on some of my books, so do visit the other tour stops for details of which books and when the discounts are happening. The most prolific commenter at the end of the tour will get to choose ONE copy of any TWO of my ebooks!

Luke, Delvin, Timoran, & Dariana: Friends and Family in Arms

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I hate to sound like I’m underplaying these relationships, but they aren’t of the same scale as the previous ones.  Luke Callindor does have a close connection with Timoran Wrath, Delvin Cunningham, and Dariana.  They are close friends and have been through a lot together. One could even consider them siblings born from battle.  His current situation is rough on all of them, but there’s simpler answers here.

La Niña (And Another Real-Life Event)

Hello everyone! The Story Empire Roadshow is rolling on. I want to thank Craig for hosting me on this fourth stop. Today I’m going to talk a bit about the weather phenomenon, La Niña.

You may wonder how or why La Niña relates to a piece of fiction. But in my novel Unseen Motives, the La Niña episode of mid-2010 to early 2011 influenced weather worldwide. In Texas, and other surrounding states, the year 2011 was one of the hottest and driest on record.

Summer began early and stayed…

Reader Interview – Melanie Fraser

eranamage's avatarLibrary of Erana

Welcome to Melanie Fraser

Where are you from? Born in South Africa but have lived in the UK since the age of 10.

Please tell us a little about yourself. I’m an Actress (and former singer and dancer) and performed in theatre, TV and film for several decades. I started my professional training aged 5 in Cape Town before moving to England. I have a  recording studio in a peaceful part of the Isle of Wight where I record voice-overs and narrate and produce audiobooks.

I have two pet rabbits and also enjoy jazz music and reading – mostly historical espionage and crime thrillers.

On average how many books do you read in a month? Oh, usually one and a bit as I read fiction and non-fiction although I don’t get much time to read so it takes a while to complete a book.

Where is your favourite…
