Poetry Day: Narcolepsy Queen

(This is not about anyone specific.  Just noticed way back how there are couples where one person would fall asleep at all times.  ‘Narcolepsy Queen’ had a better ring than ‘Narcolepsy King’ too.)

You slept while the movie played.
Leaving me to watch alone.

You passed out while the baby cried.
Abandoning me until dawn.

You snored for the entire road trip.
Forcing me to talk to myself.

You went to bed at half past four.
Causing me to bring dinner home.

You were snoozing while I was yelling.
Letting the accident come to fruition.

You sleep all hours of the day.
Yet you’re the one who claims exhaustion?

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

I know couples like this. My dad used to fall asleep while we watched Doctor Who. I wonder if he saw any of the episodes.

I once fell asleep holding a pencil. I woke up still clutching it.
