Terrors at Knee Height

Gremlins Singing

Gremlins Singing

The ground does not shake
When they come to cause their mischief
Unless they hit a gas main

The sky does not darken
From the smoke and ash of their rampage
Unless it is already night

The town does not quiver
At the unleashing of their roar
Unless they steal a megaphone

Their wake does not hold destruction
As they lack the strength to topple buildings
Unless they drive a tank

Tiny terrors slip through shadows
Not as intimidating as a gargantuan beast
But their mischief should be feared

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  3. Great fun poem Charles. They may be small, but I don’t want one of them to clamp down on my ankle. πŸ™‚

Aw, I want a gremlin. I don’t remember hardly anything from that movie… but I know that my brother used to convince me to eat my cream of corn by telling me it was Gizmo food…

I love those little beasts. Nothing beats that first movie, Gremlins. There were sick little monsters. What were the rules? 1) No bright lights, 2) No getting them wet, and 3) no feeding them after midnight. I think I got them all! Correct me if I’m wrong because I’m much too lazy tonight to look it up. BTW, love the line, “At the unleashing of their roar.” I think that line rocks!
