After a series of bad weeks and terrible weather, I’m looking to have some fun. So, I’m writing more of Sleeper of the Wildwood Fugue. I also want to share this fun and make an interactive post. Hopefully this works out.
One of the most common questions I get in author interviews is ‘Who do you want to be in a Legends of Windemere movie?’ I sputter and sprint for IMDB, my DVDs, and the TV channel guide to find answers. The truth is that I have very little idea of who could play these characters. Part of this is that I see them as individuals and I’m out of the loop on a lot of modern celebrities. Also, I’ve noticed that many books that go to film put young, relatively unknown actors in the main roles. So, I could pick a dream cast and it still wouldn’t feel right because I kind of want a few roles to go to unknowns.
So, where is the fun? Here:

If you’ve read the books or know the characters from this blog then throw some names out for who you want to see in their shoes. I think this will be a lot of fun and if I get enough responses and variety then I’ll make a post of Polls where people can vote on their favorite. By the end of the weekend, we might just have a Legends of Windemere cast to send to Hollywood.

I’ll have to think on this. i don’t know many young characters, but I would like to see a computer generated Fizzle. He’s special.

What was that movie? It was rather dark, but it had the sweetest green kindly voiced dragon…I”ll have to see if I can find it.

Dragonheart? I thought that was Sean Connery. Though I never saw the sequel.

Fun! I’m only a few chapters into the first book, so I only really know Luke … what about Garrett Hedlund? (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1330560/) I mean, granted I’m mostly just picking him because he’s super handsome, but I think he could embody Luke 🙂

Well it depends how much you want your story to be destroyed! I really can’t help but I usually hate adaptations because all the flavour and details are changed and misplaced! For example I think Martin had great idea in forcing for a series but still I personally complain for lack of details and rough changes!
That’s maybe why I’d love an animation movie by Studio Ghibli. Even if they change a bit the story I still love their style and creativity!

The only reason I think TV series is because I have a 15 book series. Nobody has the patience for a movie series that long. Writing in present tense makes it an easier transfer from what I’ve heard, but special effects budgets would limit the magic. Honestly, I keep thinking my series would be too high in cost and risk to make into a live action anything.

Never dispair! How many James Bond you have? I mean if the story is good I’d say you’ll have followers! Because if you are involved in a story or in a world it’s like going back home!
