When the Weather Always Sucks

Mere months ago it was too cold
I shivered in my bed
Cursing Father Winter
For torturing my hearth and home

Now I swear it is too hot
Sweat flooding from my pours
Making sleep a tumultuous affair
That I rarely win

Winter and summer are my banes
I hate these temp extremes
Give me spring and give me fall
So I may sleep at peace

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  2. I hear you! 😦 The weather pretty much always sucks in Chicago. Makes me miss home in New Orleans!!! Sure, summers are rough there, but you don’t have 8 months of winter. And everyone has central air when summer hits. That’s not the case in Chicago at all, and summer temps (for the, oh, 6 or 7 weeks of summer) get pretty high.

  3. Let me ramble on so you can reply that I totally misinterpreted your cute poem. πŸ™‚ I lived in Los Angeles most of my life and it was like an eternal summer. I lived in Oklahoma for a few years and it was way too hot and humid for 5 months and way too cold and windy for 5 months, and the 1 month in between whizzed away in a tornado. I lived in Pennsylvania for 1 year; it started snowing in late October and everyday the snow melted it snowed again later that same day until April; we had 3 weeks where the temperature didn’t climb above 32 F (they called it the Deep Freeze). They said that was one of their worst winters ever (lucky me). Here in Louisiana it’s too hot and humid for a couple of months, but otherwise it’s not too different from Los Angeles, minus the traffic/smog and plus the occasional tornado/hurricane. At least we don’t live on the southern hemisphere of Mars. πŸ™‚

We are having some odd kind of summer weather here today – SF Bay area…I mean really…rain in June? I truly love it! Of course, being from New Orleans, it’s nice to have rain in June and realize your skin in wet from rain and not sweat! Remember, The Seven Year Itch? MM in NYC and the open fridge? That does truly work!
