For the 2’s of people that have stuck with me this month, Raven’s Game will be ending on the 31st. Hope people have been enjoying it. Having the late day post has certainly helped me clear up time during the day for other projects. One can only imagine what I would have accomplished without the dental issues, exhaustion, family emergencies, abrupt cold, and other delays. Anyway, I’m thinking of posting about Raven’s Game on Thursday to get feedback. I’d do it earlier, but things will be a little busy at the beginning of the week.
What’s going on? Halloween, silly! Tomorrow I get to rest up and Monday is my son’s Halloween parade then trick-or-treating. Flipping a coin to see if I do biking in the morning since I’ll be walking a lot. Going to be homework, dinner, costume, and then out once both parents are accounted for. It was on Wednesday that we kind of had a dry run with a Safe Trick-or-Treat at the high school. He had fun, but there was a lot of noise, colors, and movement. It was sensory overload for him, so he was in a daze from beginning to end. You basically start at one side of the school and walk through the different sections to get candy. Only managed to get one picture:
He looks a little distressed, but he was happy. This was the halfway mark of the event and he loosened up near the end. Unfortunately, you can’t ease into it because of the crowd that is at the front. It’s only when the flow thins out that it becomes easier for a kid like him. Once we were in the lobby, he was jumping around and asking for a piece of candy. Then he danced with his reflection in the door, which is good to see because it means he snaps out of the funk within seconds instead of hours. Trust me when I say this is great news for him.
Now, it’ll be Tuesday when I get into the next project that will be repeatedly defined as bittersweet. That’s when I begin writing Legends of Windemere: Warlord of the Forgotten Age. I have a post going up in December that talks a little about this, but I’m waiting until I really finish before I take a Thursday to talk about writing ‘The End’ on Legends of Windemere. It’ll be a year before it’s published, but there won’t be any more first drafts with Luke, Nyx, Sari, Timoran, Delvin, Dariana, Fizzle, and their friends in their adventures. Some will die and others will retire, but this is really where their story ends. It’ll be hard to say good-bye even though some will appear in cameos if I continue writing. That’s something to think about, especially since I might start 2017 with the one-shot book to close up loose ends. Might not publish it until a year after the series ends though.
Outlining the final book was the big project this week. Took me until Wednesday because the original was 26 chapters long and I chopped it down to 19-20. We’ll see if the condensed stuff works or I add to it, but I needed a lot of ground to cover. Not to mention I didn’t understand some of my own notes. The hardest part was the last day where I was piecing together the battle that spans several chapters. It isn’t a simple slugfest, but a lot of tricks, turns, and chaos. This is mostly listing the notes to hit like big injuries, deaths, etc. Hardest part was figuring out the final act of the fight. Last chapter was easy with the closing section and ‘8 years later’. There’s another issue that I’ll post about tomorrow because I’m still unsure what to do with it.
A smaller project of the week was scratching my head of the superhero stories, but I’m sure people are tired of that chat. Just sorting the heroes and thinking about how to put things together. Not to mention if I keep them in Windemere or not. Anyway, the real next project after Windemere will probably end up being prepping the outlines for the Dawnfang series, War of Nyt. Need to double check the spelling since it was ‘Realm of the Night’ for a decade before I realized it didn’t make any sense. This series will be darker than Legends, but I’ll be keeping my humor in there at some points. Not sure of the source since Clyde and Mab aren’t really big on jokes. Although, Mab can be insultingly sarcastic at times. The comedy may have to come more from the supporting cast or Clyde could have a warped sense of humor. After all, he killed a human with an ear of corn once, so he can’t be all bad.
Goals for the week
- HALLOWEEN!
- TRICK-OR-TREATING!
- Start writing Warlord of the Forgotten Age
- Continue biking in mornings.
- Read more ‘Fairy Tail’ manga.
- Try to avoid the election crud. Keep hearing the phrase ‘how low can you go?’ in my head.
- Poke at the superheroes a bit more. Really need to kidn . . . find a sounding board around here.
- Resign myself to the fact that it’s no longer shorts and t-shirt weather.
- Resign myself to the fact that guys get shafted when it comes to long-sleeved graphic shirts. Superman, Batman, Avengers, rock bands, beer, and most of those on some kind of gray background. At least for the places I have coupons with. I can wear my solitary graphic shirt only so many times in a row.
