Poetry Day: Species of Fools

Yahoo Image Search (Nadesco)

(Pretty sure people will disagree with me on this one.  Guess it kind of fits Halloween since some call this situation a horror show.)

We work until our bodies break
Our minds withered and misused
All to stay within our means
And avoid the bitter cold

We toil for days away from home
Draining energy and dreams
Hoping to reach two days
Where we rush to finish chores

Our world is aimed to keep us broken
With pills to mask the fraying edges
And fear to drive our bodies on
Never letting us see that all is wrong

True rest comes with a taste of guilt
Many know not what to do
Time without work is a foreign treat
That vanishes before we savor it

We claim the crown of greatest beast
The chosen of the land
Yet very few can reach their peak
In our land of greed and fear

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  2. Very thought provoking, Charles. I enjoyed it. Now that I am no longer working for a company I remember these feelings and am gald to be away.
