Happy World Lion Day

Now, I did a post on the Lion on April 23, 2023.  So, I thought it would be silly to do that all over again.  You can click the date to read it though.  Instead, I’m going to post some pictures of animals that appear to be named after the lion.  Please let me know if I missed any and keep it to real ones.  I know mythology and fantasy authors love to have lion parts added to our monsters.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  1. I should count for this one. I’m just “lion” around today.

  2. I can’t think of another lion named animal. These were fun.

How about the lion’s mane jellyfish? There’s also the mountain lion. Although not a lion, it’s still a cat, though, and, as we know, also has other names such as cougar and puma.

    • The jellyfish didn’t show up in any searches for some reason. I wasn’t sure about mountain lion since it’s another cat and that’s one of many names. I really think it should be known more as puma or cougar too. Give the poor thing its own identity.
