Now, I did a post on the Lion on April 23, 2023. So, I thought it would be silly to do that all over again. You can click the date to read it though. Instead, I’m going to post some pictures of animals that appear to be named after the lion. Please let me know if I missed any and keep it to real ones. I know mythology and fantasy authors love to have lion parts added to our monsters.

Antlion

Lion Lizard (Curly-Tailed Lizard)

Lion Tamarin

Lionfish

Sealion

I should count for this one. I’m just “lion” around today.

Ouch. That pun could cause physical damage in the wrong hands.

I can’t think of another lion named animal. These were fun.

How about the lion’s mane jellyfish? There’s also the mountain lion. Although not a lion, it’s still a cat, though, and, as we know, also has other names such as cougar and puma.

The jellyfish didn’t show up in any searches for some reason. I wasn’t sure about mountain lion since it’s another cat and that’s one of many names. I really think it should be known more as puma or cougar too. Give the poor thing its own identity.
