This is going to be fairly simple.
I’m coming to the end of summer and wanted to do something special to help promote Do I Need to Use a Dragon? before I go back to work. So, I’m going to use the next two Sundays to gather questions from people. They will be answered on the August 28th post.
So, what can you ask?
- Nothing personal, which should go without saying.
- Ask me anything about writing, my stories, blogging, and whatever else that doesn’t step into my private life.
- Ask one of my characters something if you’ve read the books or caught them on the blog. This can include anyone from Legends of Windemere, War of Nytefall, Bedlam, Ichabod Brooks, and anything else that I might have mentioned here. Always up for an improv challenge.
That’s really it. I know I don’t have the best track record with these, but I figured it was worth a shot now that I published a book for the first time in nearly 2 years. That could even be a question to ask and then a bigger blog post down the road.
Hope people get curious.

Life provides more or less time in certain phases. I tend to have more since my children are grown. Do you see your self returning to the publishing rate of an earlier era one day?

*squinting suspiciously* Just exactly how many notebooks do you have, sir? And can you explain more about how they help you organize your ideas and your writing?

Is there a trope you think is overused or misunderstood in fantasy?

That’s a tough one.

I could amend the question to what subgenres of fantasy have you heard people say, “Oh well that’s over” but you doubt they really are?

I’ve never actually heard that one. I’d have no answer. I already tackled the first one anyway.

Do you think you’d write another book of short stories with Ichabod Brooks?

The fact they you’ve not published a book in 2years makes me feel a bit better. My last one was over a year ago (not counting my poetry book) and I’m getting anxious that people will forget me and my stories.

I worry about that due to abysmal sales. Doesn’t help that I learned years ago how fickle people could be. When I was having personal life problems, I announced a temporary semi-retirement to get things handled. Within a week, my blog traffic started plummeted and sales went silent. People I had daily comment chats with vanished and they never came back. Whole thing still hurts since it was my crumbling marriage and ensuing divorce that I had to handle.

That’s awful, Charles. But such people aren’t really worth the space they take up. You’re real friends and fans stay with you.
