Last Saturday I was feeling tired and had sinus issues, but it was also raining. I feel that way when the weather is bad nowadays. I was feeling worse on Sunday and decided to get myself checked out. No fever or coughing, so I figured it was a bad cold:
I caught Covid again!
This means I spent the entire week in ‘self-isolation’, which I guess is the new term for quarantine. Since I wasn’t too bad, I was sent home with a few meds to cover the symptoms, but no antivirals. On Tuesday, I was getting worse and went back to ask for the antivirals. It was still in the 5 day window for Paxlovid. That helped me start making a recovery, but I’ve been tired and going stir crazy this whole time. It’s hard to tell how I’m doing today because it’s raining, which sets off my sinuses and possible asthma. Don’t have anything for the latter, so I just suffer here.
Probably easiest to say what I missed instead of what I did:
- Cosplay Contest– On Sunday, my son had a slot in a cosplay contest. I made the costume and signed him up on Saturday. With Covid, I couldn’t take him there, so I had to ask his mother to do so. He won a Judges Choice award, which were two rice cookies. I had to settle for pictures and a video.
- Junior Tri-M Induction– On Monday, my son was inducted into Junior Tri-M. This is a junior honor society for music. He sings and he got in, which is great. My parents went in my place, so they should me as many pictures and videos as they could get. I still feel bad about missing it.
- Tenure Recognition Event– On Tuesday night, my school district had a small party for those who got tenure this year. It was me and one other person. Coworkers sent me a picture of the banner that had my face on it. There was one of those scannable patches that brought you to a site too. Managed to get it working and saw the video from my coworkers. Really wish I could have made that. Not the biggest fan of attention, but it would have been nice.
- Work in General– Yeah, I wasn’t there. It was also ‘Neurodiversity Week’, which is an event to celebrate and educate on neurodiversity. Not just autism. It was the first time expanding it to other mental disabilities. Missed it all, but saw the activities on social media.
Did I accomplish anything? Well, I’ll probably finish writing Darwin & the Demon Game this weekend. As of typing this up, I only have the final chapter since I wrote the final battle last night. This means I can rest during May and start getting things ready to write Darwin & the Beast Collector over the summer.
With Do I Need to Use a Dragon?, I set up the preorder site. Not really going to promote it much. I did it to make the blog posts easier to set up, including the ‘Book is Live’ one. I’m almost done with the July posts too. This means I can probably finish up August by the end of May. I know that’s far in advance, but it opens up the summer to more writing and father/son time. Since all of it is going to revolve around the new book and giving advice, it shouldn’t be too hard.
The final thing I did was some gardening:
Given the bout of Covid and being worn down, I’m not going to be pushing myself too hard next week. I’ll try to get back into biking, but we’ll see how it goes. Next weekend, I have a Bar Mitzvah to go to, which means I need to conserve my energy. People keep talking as if the moment I test negative will be when I return to normal. If this is like last time, I’m going to have the stamina of a soap bubble in a hurricane for a while. At least the brain fog hasn’t been as bad. That’s the only reason I was able to get writing done. We’ll see what happens next.
Goals of the week:
- Get back to work.
- Finish Darwin & the Demon Game this weekend.
- Finish the July posts.
- Be in the same room as my son.
- Try to do biking.
- Recover energy.
- Work on a James Bond puzzle.
- Stop writing this and make breakfast.
Let’s hope you get your strength back quickly.

Hope you can start feeling better soon. Sorry you missed so many things you would have liked to be able to attend in person, but glad you at least had access to some photos and videos. I’m also glad you didn’t have as much brain fog, so were at least able to get some writing done. Good luck with the coming week.

Thanks. I’m hoping to be back at work tomorrow. Today is rough for some reason. Don’t even think it’s covid either that’s wearing me down today.

Hope so. A body temperature of 94.8 has me worried.

It’s a shame when the only way to get time to ourselves is quarantine. I’m sorry you caught it again, but while you missed some things, you also accomplished a lot. The plants look cool.

Hope you feel better sooner, rather than later!
Please let me know if there is any blog posts I can do for your books, your regular ones or the promos for the new ones!

Thanks. I’m out of the quarantine stage and shouldn’t be contagious. Just worn down both mentally and physically. The rainy weather is aggravating my sinuses and asthma too, so it’s going to be a rough week.
Thanks for the promo offer. I haven’t released any new books in a while, so I didn’t have much of a plan besides announcing here. ‘War of Nytefall’ promos didn’t do anything even with some blog tours, so I’m no longer sure if anything works. I can send you the pre-order link for ‘Do I Need to Use a Dragon?’ though. Every little bit still helps.

That would be awesome! If its cool with you, I could also show it in my magazine (thinking just the cover + this is awesome check it out – with a link), because the release date is in June (for the magazine). I feel like might not to anything, but its a whole other dimension of people to possibly see it.
