Rest might be an understatement here. I have the entire house to myself until Sunday night, which is rare. Tends to be bittersweet too because I miss having my son around to keep me activity. The only real benefit is that I can settle in both days to input all of the edits to War of Nytefall: Eulogy and get that project done. I have chapters 3-16 to go and really only this weekend to do it. So, I’m going to put my nose to the grindstone and barrel through the large stack that’s gathered some dust. It’s what I’ve been looking forward to all week.
This has been a crazy week too. Meetings and usual workday aside, there was something called the ‘Day of Service and Learning’. This is day where all of the students volunteer for a community service outing. It’s a great concept and I love being a part of it. This is only my second time since Covid prevented it last year. Won’t go into details about what my group did, but it was fun. Nice change from being in the school, especially since the weather was great for the outdoor stuff. I’d even say this event gave me a nice boost of energy to make it through the rest of the week. Really needed it too because I ended everything with my shoulders hurting from stress. Seems my bad shoulder only acts up when I’ve pushed myself too far, which doesn’t surprise me.
Work aside, I had excitement on the parenting front. Last weekend, I got my son a cellphone and that’s been rather dramatic. Thankfully, he’s a good kid who won’t go downloading things and is following the phone rules I’ve given him. The only challenge now is that he hasn’t figured out texting nuances. If people text him a lot while he’s doing homework or hanging out with me then he stops everything to answer until I point out that he has other things to do. Guess I should consider myself lucky that this is the biggest issue I’ve gotten from him with the phone. Other drama is surrounding it, but he’s not the cause. Overall, a successful first week with the new tech.
Oh yeah, I also have to teach him that 50% battery isn’t when you panic. At least not until the phone is paid off and the battery starts draining fast as if it knows. I swear, tech always knows when its warranty is up.
With work and parenting, I didn’t do much else. My nights were spent trying to fit in some editing or just resting with television until I fell asleep. The weather was strange this week with it being really cold at the beginning and then warming up halfway through. Probably why I didn’t sleep well near the end. At least I have the weekend to kind of sleep in, but I really don’t want to be lazy. I want War of Nytefall: Eulogy to be done by Sunday night with only the blurb and remaining December posts to go. Be great if I can have most of November to rest and plan. Maybe I’ll do the cover reveal this Thursday.
Going back to television, I don’t have anything that interesting to talk about since I don’t think I have that large an anime audience here. What I’m watching is called ‘Kenichi the Mightiest Disciple’. I like it. The main character is a kid who is always getting bullied until he is introduced to six eccentric martial arts masters. They train him even though he lacks any natural talent and he starts defending himself. The problem is that behind every bully is an even bigger one looking for a fight. There’s a good amount of humor and Kenichi never comes off as strong even if he wins a fight. You see him train and fail, so it drives home the fact that he’s getting by on determination and courage. Nice change from the heroes I see who are gifted from the beginning.
Not much to say about next week. It’s leading into Halloween, which should be fun. I hope that means the week will go a little easier than usual. For some reason, I want to say there’s something going on, but I’m too drained to figure it out.
Final note: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR DECEMBER RELEASE OF THE FINAL “WAR OF NTYEFALL” BOOK!
Goals of the week:
- Finish adding edits to War of Nytefall: Eulogy
- Parenting and working

- Clean the bathroom

- Hydrate when possible
- I kind of want hot wings
I volunteer for your launch, Charles.

You have been busy. I lost you for a while. WordPress decided not to tell me about your posts. But I resubscribed and it seems OK now.
What do you need for your launch, Charles?

The launch is aiming to be the first weekend in December. I was just going to send the usual ‘book is live’ post unless a person had a special request. Tried to think of something special since it’s the last Nytefall book, but the busyness is going to last the rest of the year.
WordPress really does get weird with subscriptions.

Hope you got that editing done, and great to hear the first week with your son having his phone went well… Hope those continue to be your only issues with him with it, and he sticks to the phone rules. Maybe try giving him a spacific percentage to watch for when it would be a good point to recharge the phone? Don’t know if that would help, but it’s a thought. Of course, that might complicate matters if you want him to make sure his phone is charged for something going on later and it hasn’t reached that percentage… Hmmm… Maybe add an, “Unless I tell you otherwise,” to that.
There’s always a spot on my blog to promote your books, so count me in.

I got the editing done, but eyes really hurt by the end of the weekend. The phone is kind of bumpy. He’s pretty good with it, but other people have proven to be less responsible here. I told him to wait for under 20%, but he gets really nervous. I’ll be happy if this is the only issue.
