It really is a challenge to find good teasers that show some, but not a lot of what is going on a book. War of Nytefall: Eradication has a lot of action and many life-changing events for the Dawn Fangs. Here’s some of the former.
The chamber rumbles as coal dust spews from below and a blast of sand gushes from the far opening. Seven armored figures come out of the entrance with more grace than the Dawn Fangs while three more emerge from the tunnel. All of them are wearing crimson and sapphire armbands to show that they are part of the same group. Those without helmets have clay masks that resemble wolves and help them avoid suffocating in the thickening cloud. As if they have memorized the landscape, they spread out around the chamber and easily avoid the crystals that are nothing more than faint pulses of light in the churning dust. The hunters draw their blades and crossbows, but refuse to attack their prey until the swirling mess rises to their waists. Even then, they inch forward instead of charging out of fear of the infamous Dawn Fangs. It is only when Clyde slumps against the wall and has a coughing fit that the mortals realize they have an advantage.
Titus and Bob step between their leader and the charging warriors, but they are momentarily distracted by Mab’s sudden yelp. Swatting poisonous bolts out of the air, they risk a quick glance and realize that the burglar has vanished from sight. Both vampires hope that she has entered the shadows and will begin yanking their attackers into the void, but they begin to have doubts with the first ringing clash of weapons. Bob swings his lance wide and catches a heavily armored hunter on the shoulder. The blow is enough to knock the man aside, but it leaves the Dawn Fang open for a crossbow bolt to his thigh. A dull pain runs through his leg as the poison mixes with his blood and begins to sap his strength. The vampiric elf steps back to focus on healing while Titus summons his double to defend his flank. He swiftly kills two of the hunters who are wearing leather armor, but he finds it difficult to handle those with spears. The mortals stay low to avoid his swings and carefully jab at his legs with the intention of crippling the towering Dawn Fang. Tripping over crystals, the warrior struggles to hold his ground and is pierced several times in his thighs that begin to burn from the poison. Before he falls to his knees, Bob returns to the fight with a maddening howl that startles the mortals. The lanky vampire lands in front of his friend and spins like a top to send their enemies flying, but his strikes only shove the men and women back a few feet.
The Vengeance Hounds are about to charge when a spear flies between them and strikes Clyde in the side of the head. The weapon sticks him to the wall, but he slowly pulls away while tapping at the blood-dripping tip. Yanking it out of his skull, he snaps out of his trance and looks around for Mab. Not seeing the burglar, he bares his fangs and snaps the weapon between two of his fingers. Sniffing at the mix of coal and sand, Clyde waits for his friends to scramble out of the way before leaning forward to pound his fists together. The blow creates a shockwave that shatters all of the crystals and sends the mortals hurtling back from the force. Wanting some fresher air, he casually hits the wall behind him with his elbow and destroys half of the domed chamber. Before the damage can be undone, he grabs his friends and one of their attackers to carry through the gaping hole. A crossbow bolt hits him in the shoulder, the parting shot from a hunter pulled out by his teeth and sent into the woman’s chest with enough power to knock her through the far wall. Seeing the infamous Dawn Fang’s full power on display, the survivors scramble out of the new opening and disappear into the darkness.
“I only have one question,” Clyde says to his prisoner. Lifting the hunter by the spine, the vampire uses his finger to casually slice off the front of the man’s helmet. “Who took my partner? Give me a clear answer and you won’t die screaming. I might even consider leaving your friends alone. So, where is she?”
“I don’t kn-” the mortal blurts out before he is torn in half.
“That’s never the right answer,” the Dawn Fang sighs while he holds up the corpse to drink the flowing blood.

Don’t mess around when being questioned by a Dawn Fang.

Nope. Especially when they’re stressed and annoyed.
