This is really a 4.5 rating. The story dragged a bit in the middle, but it was a lot of fun how everything tied into each other at the end. I was really surprised that there was a lot of drama and deep characters along with the comedy. One of my favorite parts of the book is the humorous footnotes that appear from time to time. It was a unique way to learn more about the characters’ world without the flow of the story breaking with dumps of information.
As far as the characters go, the author does a great job making many of them flawed and lovable. There were times I found Pig’s naivete irritating, but I had to respect her ability to never give up. Sir Kay made a great counterpoint to her positive energy, so they played off each other very well. By the end of the adventure, I did feel like I was saying good-bye to good friends.
Definitely recommend this book and I’ll be reading it again in the future.
