Hold The Silver Lining

Search for the spark
That makes you smile
Within the agonizing darkness

Grip happiness
Whenever it comes in reach
For it can be fleeting

Hunt for the raindrop
That is warm and soothing
Among the swarm of icy tears

Many will try to tear you down
Claiming the role of realist
Blind to the destruction of their words

Why is it so hard to hope?
Why are we punished for reaching high?
Is it so wrong to smile?

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

I love this poem, Charles. I relate closely to it, always grabbing the silver lining when I’m told it doesn’t exist. Awesome.
