Hope everyone had a fun Thanksgiving. This is a quick post to let everyone know that I recently did an interview for the Eat, Sleep, Write Podcast. Click on the picture below as Adam and I talk about creating fantasy worlds. If enough people are interested then this might become an occasional chat/podcast.

The Lich by Jason Pedersen
Another note about something I’m thinking about doing. Adam has asked if I want to write a weekly, biweekly, or monthly post for his site. It would be on the topic of fantasy like I’ve done here a few times. Things like weapons, magic systems, monsters, etc. I’m still trying to put together a list of topics that I can do and it’s something that would start next year after I get into a groove with my new Legends of Windemere schedule.
So, what do people think of that?

I never take the time to listen to podcasts. I rarely watch videos. I find I can read the good stuff faster. If you wrote something about the craft, I’d certainly read it.

It takes me to the site Charles, but I don’t see where the interview is.

There should be a podcast play bar on the page.

I think you were great in it. 🙂
Interesting how you start with a concrete concept such a map. It was one of the first things I had developed for Pearseus, but it hadn’t occurred to me how important that was.

It came about after I made my first world, which was really simple. Continent in each direction. I wanted Windemere to be more complicated, so I built a map as I outlined and planned. Then I ended up losing nearly all of the maps. I think I have one original and a rebuilt now.

Strewth. The value of backups, huh?

Yeah. Though it’s hard to do with hand-written stuff.

You mean, impossible. I’ve tried half a dozen applications that were supposed to help with that, but I always got bored of scanning and gave up.

Best thing I’ve found is to get a fireproof safe and keep them in there. Just don’t lose the key or you’re in the same position as before.
