The Inevitable Maw

World on the edge
Teetering toward ruin
With humanity dancing on the rim
All aware of what lies below
Yet unable to pull away

Have we done this dance before?
In a different life and form?
Push our world to exhaustion
And a frightening frustration
That reminds us we are guests

One day the darkness will consume
Leaving the scraps of the past
To grow and rebuild
Another attempt to get it right?
Or the endless cycle of our kind?

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  1. Knowing we humans the answer is an endless cycle of our kind till the final light goes out from the lack of fuel.
