I Wish to Write a Poem

Kenshin Himura (How I feel)

Kenshin Himura (How I feel)

I wish to write a poem
An act I rarely do
Since life became a race
My brain aches
When I stretch for subject
No clue on what to rhyme
Not that I ever do
So today I try to break the fast

The doorbell rings
Every phone explodes
I knew it would occur
Toddler singing
With mother shouting
My limit has been reached
Too many sounds
Better luck next week

I tried and had a topic, which is now gone.  Anybody else have that moment where they seclude themselves to write something.  You know it’s going to drift away at the first distraction, so you focus.  Then every noise that could possibly happen explodes outside the door.  Maybe writers should aspire to buying a soundproof room.  If it’s good enough for musicians and serial killers then it should be good enough for writers.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.
