Been a while since I did a post about goals. I think because they were staying the same and there have been some rough times. I reached the point last week where whatever I got done, I got done. Let the chips fall where they may. For my British viewers, I mean poker chips and not french fries, which have nothing to do with France. I’m sure this is going to be more popular in the comments than anything else.
The heatwave is relatively over here, so I can get some of my overheated mind back on track. Having my heroes wander through a mountain of ice while in a heatwave was a little relaxing. Although, doing research to see if hunger pangs can be undone by eating ice was an interesting adventure. So, that brings me to the goals of the week:
- Finish writing Legends of Windemere: The Compass Key. I have 1.5 chapters left, which is 5 sections and a cliffhanger, mystery discussion with no names. I would say it’s 50/50 that I can get this done.
- Continue the hyping for Legends of Windemere: Prodigy of Rainbow Tower. This includes the character and city poems.
- Make daily ‘What do you look for in . . .’ posts to stir discussions about themes and foci of Legends of Windemere: Prodigy of Rainbow Tower.
- Prepare and send e-mail for the July 30th Blog Blitz. Just waiting for the cover art, so anyone can join in to help.
- Create more characters for The Slumber Wars. Finally made one of the ‘villains’ last night and decided on the major players in each family. Probably don’t need much detail on a lot of them.
- Start reading The Crimson League (The Herezoth Trilogy).
- Clean house over the course of the week for my son’s 4th birthday/playdate.
- Keep pestering Ionia. I miss my WordPress bestie.
That’s the extent of my week and I think it’s doable. Most of these are small, easy things and the only BIG one is the first one. If I can get a section done tonight then I’m ahead of the game. Fingers crossed that everything runs smoothly. Maybe I’ll take some time to write the special blurbs for Legends of Windemere: Allure of the Gypsies if I get far enough ahead. That sounds greedy though. Best to leave that for next week.

I don’t know … #7 and #8 may be head-to-head as to which is more important.

Thankfully, I only put the top one in importance. The others appear as I think of them. Apparently, #8 just sent me a text that I’m in trouble.

You must be mistaken. I am not number 8. I am Johnny 5

Use pillows under a blanket to make a fake Ionia in bed. Then sneak into the hallway at night and stick to the shadows. Seduce a few guards or knock them out with a bedpan to the head. Pick up some candy and a teddy bear at the gift shop. Waltz out of the hospital like everything is perfectly natural. Steal an ambulance and use the siren to get through red lights and traffic.

I know. Not nearly enough risk and excitement in there. You might have to rappel down from the roof. 🙂

Pretty good list. Get it done, cross ’em off, and move onwards and upwards. I live in San Diego so I’ve missed the heatwave entirely, but as someone who used to live in Phoenix, my heart goes out to you. So you’ve written two books in this series? That’s impressive, good for you. How long are they, full novels, or…?

Actually, the first novel is published on Amazon (Legends of Windemere: Beginning of a Hero), the second novel will debut on July 31st (Legends of Windemere: Prodigy of Rainbow Tower), aiming for a Halloween release of the third book, the fourth book is at final editing stage, and the I should be finishing the fifth book this week. They range from 300-500 pages, but they’re quick reads. I’m hoping to start writing the 6th book before the end of the year.
I got bored waiting on rejection letters for 12-13 years, so I kept planning and writing the series. 🙂

Wow! Well good for you. That’s very exciting. How long does it take you to write these books? Sounds like you’re blazing through it! I just finished my first novel and it took six years O_O

It takes about 3-4 months to write one of the books. I already have tentative outlines for books 6-15, which makes it a lot easier to write. I’m a big planner.

Couldn’t help but notice for #4 you said anyone… Could I maybe contribute art for one or two books?

Sorry. I meant, anyone could post about the upcoming book on July 30th. I have a cover artist for the series so far. Didn’t realize how that sentence came out. Really sorry about that.

Thanks. I’m hoping I get it all done. Worse case scenario is that I finish writing the book a week from this Monday. I can live with that.
