Whacky Idea

If you haven’t guessed, I like having my characters talk and get into public debates.  It happens in the comments of every ‘Ask a Character’.  So, I wanted to make a post like this with the entire mental circus debating some issue.  Just can’t think of a good issue.

I also wanted to figure out if there’s a way to let everyone in on it.  What I mean is a way to have other people get involved with their characters.  I know that could work in the comments, but that would only be me with my characters talking to everyone.  At least for the most part.

So, any ideas on how I can get this to work?  Even a topic for this experiment would be appreciated or the simple ‘it can’t be done’ comment.  Maybe this would work better on the Community Storyboard.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

the subject of the debate could be a chance to air your beefs with your own genre… using your characters to play devil’s advocate also… interesting idea whatever you decide…
it would be a dull debate whatever the subject with the inclusion of characters I’m working on presently because they don’t have language skills as we know them…

    • Good point about the genre discussion. Maybe I can start it off with my characters and others can step in. Skype was suggested, but I lack that ability and I’m not sure how that would allow people to join in throughout the day.

another way to invite interaction with readers is by running a poll on your blog and collect points of views and have your characters take those stances… I’m not to sure about the Skype thing… not everyone wants to be seen… though they may be curious to see you…the man and mind behind the stories…

      • I got an author picture for that. It terrifies enough children that I don’t have to risk a video. 😉

A poll would definitely work out. Maybe I’ll give the overall structure a test tomorrow and see how it goes with people using their characters in the comments. I’ll use a separate post to gather topics and make a poll the next day from the suggestions. Is that what you meant?

  3. If you don’t want to do all the talking maybe you could just take a topic and then discuss it with other people, say on skype. It would be mental but say for ex everybody picks a charachter and you say a topic, then they say what they think!Sorry I’ve been up since 5,I hope is clear!
