I was going to post this yesterday, but things happened. Specifically, I forgot until 10pm and then it felt like it was too late. Blame the squirrels.
What is this post about? Simple. It’s a list ‘written’ by one of my characters. It’s what continues to drive them forward and inspire them. Typically, I would start with Luke Callindor the hero, Nimby the popular one, or Fizzle the mascot. I’m going in another direction and starting with:
The Lich (Hence the post title.)
So here is what keeps the Lich going:
- Desire for power.
- Loyalty to my dark master.
- Auras of my victims that power my magic.
- A villainous curiosity.
- Fear of being eaten by one of my own demonic summons.
- Rage at that blasted woman and her academy.
- Love . . . of death.
That’s the Lich’s list. If you expected puppies or something more comical then I suggest you read ‘Beginning of a Hero’. Not because it will give you a better idea of the Lich, but because it’s a good book.
8. Add on: Fury at author’s blatant shilling.
See. No sense of humor.

**grins** Oh this is a Marvelous idea!!! I might have to do something like this… not only is it fun, it really helps you “see” the characters!!!
LikeLike
That it does. It’s very tempting to go goofy though. I had to fight back the urge to put something really out there on his list.
LikeLike
**grins** yeah I can see that being something I would have trouble with as well… mostly cause it would be “fun”
Hmmm… I think I am going to make the list for my characters now. Yes I am procrastinating writing the end of my novel. I even have an idea where it is going, how to finish it… but well, it is so much more fun to write about my characters!!! hehehe

I’m a horrible influence. Can’t wait to see the list.

I am thinking it will make a marvelous blog posting for tomorrow, especially if I manage to finish the “outline/rough draft” today, as is my hope!!!

Fingers crossed. Look yourself in a room and tell a trusted person to only let you out when you show them a completed outline. Make sure it isn’t a room with a television though. Kind of counterproductive there.

**giggles** I don’t watch tv, so that isn’t an issue for me… it is stopping running around online hehehe. I write all my stuff online, so I can’t just shut off the net, but I am making progress, slowly but surely!

The tortoise did beat the hare. Though the hare fell asleep too. Not sure where the analogy was supposed to go there.

**falls over giggling** slow and steady? well, I am not so sure about the steady, and I am beginning to think the hare was right… a nap is totally in order!!! **grins**
First I will finish sketching in though, only two scenes left. I am sure I can hammer out enough words to give it shape for my rewrite…

**giggles** yay for a cheerleader!!! I have only one scene I don’t have anything down in… and some of what I wrote through this time was more “notes” to myself, as I know I need to do a little research on structure damage and the damage in the wake of an earthquake, but if I would have “researched” now I wouldn’t have gotten a thing done… but yay for over 1k words today!!!

Nice word count for the day. Good that you’re doing research too. People can get touchy about the details of that kind of stuff.

well I like my stuff to be just real enough… **grins** altho, any of those detail nazi’s wouldn’t like how I write…

I feel like I know a lot more about the Lich now. And evil demon villains usually don’t have much of a sense of humor. 😉

Squirrels are the preferred minions of a certain blogger that must not be named. 😀
They really don’t have much of a sense of humor. Though, the Lich is probably a decent dancer since he magically glides everywhere.

Mmm, hmm. I see. I think I might know the one you’re speaking of.
I seriously doubt the Lich dances. Unless he dances on the graves of his enemies. But so far, I don’t think he’s got too many enemies in the ground. The live ones keep outsmarting him. Um, the Lich can’t hear me, can he? I don’t want him to come looking for me…
LikeLike
He has more enemies in the ground than you would think. He’s been around for a while and it’s only recently that he started having trouble with heroes. Though, many of them were reanimated for various uses, so they’re probably dust by now.

Really? So Luke is pretty special, isn’t he?

Luke is lucky and he’s not the one that started the Lich’s issues with heroes. That would be Ms. Hamilton.

Not really. Selenia and the Lich mentioned their history in the first book. Can’t go any further than that for the sake of those that haven’t read the book yet.

LOL! I’m reading, I’m reading! I just feel like I’m going slower than a snail. I’m not getting any writing done, I haven’t even looked at my manuscript for the last week and a half! I’m outside almost all the time. I need a break! If I don’t write, I might just burst!
Okay, I’m fine. I just wished that I could write full-time. Oh well. It’ll happen someday.

That sounds like a great goal.
Don’t worry about reading. If you really want to write then do that because you never know when you’ll get the chance again.

It is a nice goal. It might take several years though.
Anyway, I’m liking your story too much to stop reading it. I’ll keeps reading a dozen pages or so every few days, and you can expect a review from me around Christmas. 😉

Ace! This is not too dissimilar to something i had in mind, along the lines of a villain’s list of things to do (like your list of goals at the beginning of the week): 1. Hire army 2.lay siege to city 3.kill everyone 4.raise everyone from the dead 5 take undead army and repeat process until entire world is mine 6. write to mum… hohowhat! Keep smiling and keep writing, thank you for all your support this week,. charles, you’ve been amazing. Best wishes to you and your family 🙂
additional, I went back and re-read your poem about being judged over the children, really struck a chord. 🙂

I admit that I was tempted to put something goofy in the Lich’s list. Something like dancing on graves or cooking a favorite dish. It really didn’t work.
