Head of Lead

My head feels like it weighs a ton thanks to a cold and the weather by some high pressure freak thing.  I can barely focus on what I’m reading, much less writing my level.

The plus of today is that I have set up a special eBook project that might be going live in a week or two.  Bestiary of Blatherhorn Vale is formatted and under copywrite.  If my wife can make the cover art that I want then it will be my first published poetry collection.

The experimentation part?  I’m not going to market this beyond KDP Select, Novelspot’s free ‘Just Out’ service, and Bookpinning.  All the free stuff.  I want to see how it goes.  It’ll be .99 cents because it’s not even 50 pages.  So this is going to be an experiment of minimal touching advertising.  If things go well then I’ll do the same for ‘Catalysts’ whenever that comes out.  It means I can put most of my force behind the novels.  Guess we’ll see what happens when the time comes.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

Coincidentally, I was considering employing a similar strategy with Baron of Blood.

    • It’ll be interesting to see how strong KDP Select is on its own. I’m guessing it is going to be strong for new releases, but slow down as time progresses. Amazon loves new releases.

Very true. If the new releases do well enough on their own, with just KDP Select and no advertising – then maybe it will be worth investing in some advertisement one the “new release” appeal wears off.

      • Definitely. I’m learning that doing everything in one blast at the beginning can lead to a sudden slow down. Though, it could be different for a second book since the first one is around.
