Poetry Day: Cursed Soul

Monty Python

(This poem is another easy one to figure it.  Deals with a person who was bad in a past life and is routinely being punished whenever reincarnated.  I always thought that would be a nightmare because the person would suffer without knowing why.  They might never work off their spiritual debt and even make things worse.)

*****

Reborn without a choice

Cursed by an ancient life

With no memory living on

Bad luck will follow it

No matter how it tries

Never being free of pain

Moments of joy are murdered

Before they are ever savored

Turning chances of happiness

Into sources of pure dread

Depression always on its tail

Its will to fight eroding

With every blow and falter

Some day it will pass on

Wondering why it suffered

Never reaching any goal

No matter how hard it dreamed

Until its eyes will see no more

The cursed soul moves on

To start the cycle once again

Never to be redeemed

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.
