Poetry Day: 1 A Day to Keep Me Sane

Maka Albaran from Soul Eater

(This was the first poem I did with an old project.  I wanted to post 1 per day to keep myself creative.  Looks like I’ll be putting this 263 poems up in alphabetical order, which will be odd.)

My goal is 1 a day

For an entire year

Some would be long

Most would be short

Because my time is clogged

*

This challenge made to me

By the voices in my head

Daring me to try

Before my mind grows up

And loses all its wonder

*

I started with a rush

Believing I would succeed

A creative project

That I could achieve

Though only I would care

*

I wrote them fast

As minutes passed

My goal was to be raw

Relying on my rhythm

To carry me to the end

*

I am coming to a wall

Filled with gaping maws

Where topics swallowed whole

Before I sneak a peek

And get my muse in gear

*

I will push to carry on

Grabbing topics as I go

From news and air and friends

I strive until the finish line

Then a day I might just rest

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.
