I didn’t start writing Book 11 of LEGENDS OF WINDEMERE, so let’s just get that out of the way. I was going to after the Wednesday TWUBS chat, but Merchant of Nevra Coil has been bugging me. Keep feeling like I missed something with it, so I’m doing an editing run on it. I’ve been cleaning up some explanations of events, but it’s hard because many of them are supposed to remain vague due to the big memory curse that’s part of the overall story. Still, I think it’s something else that’s irking me. Keep in mind that this is the book that lost 1/4 of the original when my hard drive died. That’s probably another factor in my worry. At this rate, I might not start in on the next book until May, which means I’ll finish it in June. We’ll see what happens since I’ll have the last week in April free if I don’t tackle the project.
In regards to the TWUBS Chat, I want to thank those who showed up. John W. Howell, the mysterious Mr. Bill, and Ionia Martin helped keep me occupied for the 2 hours. I do apologize for vanishing a few times, but I kept getting booted from the TWUBS site. This forced me to try from Twitter itself, which didn’t work too well. As far as timing, I don’t think I’ll do a midday, midweek again. I had some activity, but not as much as the nightly ones. So I might keep it on a night schedule or try for a Sunday morning one in the future. The next TWUBS Chat will tentatively be May 2nd 8-11 PM, which is a Saturday night. I’m in the middle of 2-4 months of birthdays and anniversaries.
I feel like I got very little done, but I’m still exhausted. Getting back into the habit of ushering the kid off to school is part of it. I keep planning to get more sleep after he’s gone, but it never happens. Correction: I did it one day this week and woke up to 100 emails. Not pretty. That isn’t counting tweets, blog comments, and other notifications that required my attention. As far as the blog goes, some of the character interviews were successful. Then there was the ‘Gabriel/Baron’ one that got nothing. Probably be a while before I attempt it again, but it’s getting dangerous. Spoilers are a high risk.
I did get some outlining done and I’m feeling like I’ll have to rewrite the series list again. So the return of old projects that I keep thinking are done is probably weighing down on me. There are still so many series that I’m still on the fence about in terms of are they worth doing. After dividing ‘Project Phoenix’ into separate adventures with only a slight connection, I have a lot of heroes in limbo. Some have been handed off to other series, but many are simply sitting around. I’m hoping to send them somewhere soon. Though the book editing comes first.
A lot of personal drama has been going on too, but that’s going to stay on this side of the computer. It’s affecting my mood and energy though. I’m finding myself at the point where I wish I had a haven or at least the opportunity to get away from everyone for a week. Just figure certain things might go to hell around here if I do. Guess you can say I feel trapped, but I’m fighting to make sure I’m productive.
Plans for the week?
- Edit Merchant of Nevra Coil.
- Choose a cover for Ichabod Brooks & the City of Beasts.
- Outlining if I have time.
- Promoting books.
- Cooking and biking, but not at the same time.
- Going over series list, which seems to be stuck at 35 with various series and one-shots. I keep knocking some down while new ones crop up.
- Laundry.
It’s looking like another low energy week, so we’ll see how far I get.

Charles, that’s a lot to do this week. I’d break it down into doable sections, as number of pages, etc. Hear you about hard drive crashes & loosing work. After my hard drive crisis, I bought a 3TB external hard drive for back up. Absolute peace of mind now. Difficult to juggle family life & writing. I think how lonely it would be, just me & Mr. iMac! Even though he has a super brain, he doesn’t laugh, sing, or socialize well. Have a wonder-full week. Christine

With the editing, I aim for 2-3 chapters a day. I hate stopping in the middle of a section because I fear losing the flow. At this rate, I should be done by the end of the week.
My crash actually happened when I was trying to load a back up on a thumb drive. A faulty update caused a driver issue or something like that. Totally heartbreaking, but I have a better backing up system now.
Enjoy your week too.

Charles, good plan for this week. What a horror to loose work on the computer. Backing up is so important. Good luck with editing this week! Christine

Thanks. Coming down with a cold, so it looks like I’m already having an uphill battle. Might need to sleep in at some point.

Haha I love #5: cooking and biking but not at the same time 😛

Though I probably could do certain things if I put the stationary bike near the microwave.

Good Grief! You know on Chitty Chitty Bang Bang they have a stationary bike that powers the cooking…

I really should find a way to make the bike power my iPod. 🙂

Hang in there, I know all about personal drama (for me it involves my daughter flooding the house!). I also know what it’s like to feel exhausted when it doesn’t seem like you’ve achieved all that much. I’ve put my writing on the back burning for the A to Z and I’m get antsy – I need to write something other than those posts. I do that tomorrow! Oh, and it’s sensible not to cycle and cook at the same time – there should be a sticker for that 😉

I remember dealing with a flooded basement once. Not fun at all. I’m hoping to get a good amount of rest tonight and make it a productive week. Probably going to be cutting it close. Then again, I have 192 pages to edit, which doesn’t seem so bad. Have fun getting back to your writing.

I have this vision of all these characters sitting around drinking coffee and bitching about when the Boss is going to put them in. I am going to finish Ichabod this week. I also started Family of the TRi-Rune. I’m now 100% Yallowitz. Scary.

Yikes. As someone who lives 100% Yallowitz for a while, I suggest being careful. Or order pizza.

I’ll take a plain old Pepperoni please. Oh, I have to get my own. I get it.

I haven’t had a plain old Pepperoni slice in a long time. Love these pepperoni pinwheels that the local place has though.

I too have not had a Pepperoni in a while.

Cooking while biking would help to save time though. And make for a great YouTube video. 🙂

Kind of scary how we see things as YouTube worthy or not. Waiting for someone to make an adjective that refers to this.

I’d like to get away for a week, too. Even escaping to the balcony – uninterrupted – would be nice. I think I’ll put in my reservation!
Sounds like a busy week. Laundry and cooking can be done at the same time 🙂

At this point, I think I’d settle for a day where the phone doesn’t go off and I can sleep for an extra hour. Seems 6 AM hits and the noise kicks off.

Glad you had a good TWUBS discussion. But how frustrating about getting booted off.
And my goodness what a schedule you have! I’m sorry about the conflicts in your life though. I hope at some point you will be able to get some downtime in a beautiful location to recharge.

It happened several times too. Sadly, my schedule has already fallen behind due to a few incidents over the weekend. Today is playing catch up. Downtime in a beautiful location is not in the cards for a while. If for no other reason than I wouldn’t be able to go there alone.

No problem. Technical issues made it a bit of a chore. Happy belated anniversary.
