When a story comes to a close, the readers go on with their lives and move on to another adventure. What about the characters? Sure, you get an idea of what they’re doing after the final page, but do they have any plans? Can they even enjoy a normal life now that the thrill of their destiny is complete? Might as well ask:
Luke Callindor– I’d settle down eventually. Probably get married, have kids, and train future heroes like my grandfather. If I’m a terrible teacher then I’ll become a wilderness guide or . . . I guess I could keep wandering . . . Can you come back to me?
Sari– I’m going to keep wandering even if I marry. My dream is to travel while selling candy from all over Ralian. It’d be a strange change of pace after all of this destiny business, but I’m sure I’ll be happy. Of course, I’ll have a home somewhere for me to return to and restock and rest. Nyx and I already agreed that if we don’t get married that we’ll live together outside of Gaia, but I’m hoping she finds someone.
Nyx– No idea since this destiny is all I know. Probably make a tower and take on students like my masters. Sari keeps saying I can get married, but I need to find the right person and it’s hard to think about with that final battle coming up.
Delvin Cunningham– I’m going to become a teacher at Hamilton Military Academy and marry Nyx.
Nyx– Excuse me?
Sari– Gotta give the guy credit for being so blunt. He’s still trying to get that first date out of her.
Delvin– It wasn’t like I was going to lie. Though I should probably add ‘as long as Nyx says yes’ to that second goal.
Nyx– Take it a step at a time, Cunningham. Earn that first date and then we’ll discuss marriage and kids.
Luke– Nobody said kids.
Nyx– I will set all of you on fire if you keep this up. Your turn, Timoran.
Timoran Wrath– I would prefer to keep my plans secret. Mostly because I do not want any pity if they fail to come to pass. All I will say is that I hope that my wandering will end and I can return home. Though if Sari and Luke decide to continue adventuring, I would be inclined to travel with them if they are willing to have my company. It would be wrong for me to leave my friends in such a dangerous life.
Sari– I’d be happy to have you traveling with me. Though we all seem to be resistant.
Luke– Probably because we don’t know how things will end.
Fizzle– Fizzle return to forest. Fizzle stay with friends. Good to plan. Be happy and have fun!
Nyx– Guess we’ll see what happens when the last book is written. Thankfully we have 2-3 years before that.

Today, being my anniversary, I have to add that the adventure doesn’t end when you marry…it only just begins 🙂

Good point. Only the sex ends. (Joking!)

Thank you for putting a thoughtful smile on my face in this dreadful Irish payback day. (Mother Nature is making us put up with a whole three months of rainfall in one day.)

You’re welcome. They’re really a humorous crew when not following a script. Hope the rain eases up.

With a pear tree for his cousin. Each drite actually has its own sweet food addiction. So if I ever have another one, I need to pick something besides apples. Though no drite will ever come close to being Fizzle.

This makes me wonder which characters will become favorites in the other series I have planned. I never saw the Fizzle popularity coming. At least not to this extent. Just shows I’ll never know which character will take the top spot.

Fizzle could have his own series

As long as his post-series responsibilities don’t get in the way. 😀

I love that Luke wants you to get back to him. Very typical. Liked this post..

Thanks. He really isn’t sure what to do after he gets bored with the road. Even I’m not sure what he’ll definitely do, which is part of the fun.
