So a lot has changed with Allure of the Gypsies going out on December 1st and Catalysts going out either tonight or tomorrow. Depends on if I can finish the final edits today and how long Amazon review takes. I’m realizing that editing over the weekend is about as easy as keeping a happy toddler quiet and still for an hour.
I’m going to try to post about the blog tour for Allure of the Gypsies later today. Probably make the post tonight and try to explain it to the best of my abilities. Anyway, I have to eat and bike and start laundry, so here are the goals.
- Finishing editing and then publish Catalysts.
- Set up Catalysts on Goodreads and do some minor promotion.
- Continue editing Beginning of a Hero, Family of the Tri-Rune, and Allure of the Gypsies.
- Take son trick or treating on Halloween.
- Possibly work a bit more on The Slumber War if time permits.
- Eat, sleep, and shower.
- Get back into the biking schedule.
- Continue plotting ‘his’ demise.
Now a question for people and also to see if people read this far:
Would it be worthwhile to bring back the character interviews that I used to do on Tuesday? These are the ones where bloggers can ask the characters questions and get into a conversation. I stopped when I got a bunch of likes and few comments, which felt like it was a pointless post. Yet, I do want to include interviews in the Allure of the Gypsies hype week and there are a few minor characters who can get introduced. Maybe even characters from other series.

I enjoyed previous character interviews

Thanks. I’m hoping to bring them back in November if I get enough thumbs up. After have 3 weeks of only 2 questions at most, it became rather disheartening.

The character interviews would work well for hype week. I wondered where those had gone.

People stopped responding, so I stopped them. With book 3 coming out and me revealing other series, I have a lot more characters to work with. They don’t all have to be Legends of Windemere. The whole point is to have fun.

I enjoyed them. Shoot me an email when Catalysts goes live. I have a post ready for it.

I’ll do that. Hoping for tonight or tomorrow. Amazon is apparently working slow on reviews.

My reviews post in about 5 minutes after I leave them. Oh, I see what you are talking about. Okay.

Yeah. It’s going to be a little delayed because this house has been so f&*Ding loud that I haven’t been able to touch Catalysts. Best laid plans of authors seem to be undone rather easily.

Interviews with characters are good reading. Not sure I have questions though. Especially for characters not in a book I have read yet.
But I got stuck on plotting ‘his’ demise. Is that an upcoming character? Did I miss something?

I give an explanation of every character when I do the interview, so people can work off that. I think people over-thought it at times. One could ask about the culture, childhood, personal thoughts, and anything for these characters. The Hellfire Elf got a few good ones and somebody asked one of my characters about pizza.
It might be a character. Or it might be a real world nemesis that I must crush. The world may never know. 😉

I loved those question time posts…then I got so involved in my own things that I started missing them. They were fun. Glad you put Eat Drink and Shower on your goals list 😉

Be surprised how often the eat and sleep is forgotten. Shower is thinking time.
I’m looking forward to doing the interviews again and probably work with a few minor characters from my books at first. The upcoming big names are being saved for hype week.

Sorry, I read Pappy mention Hype week, but not sure what that is…

The week before my third book debuts, I’m going to be doing several posts a day to hype it. Each day will focus on a character or theme of the book. Other blogs like Literary Syndicate will be talking about Legends of Windemere too. The goal is to get people talking about the book before it comes out.

Sound like a very good idea! A real wring-out for you but a great idea!

It shouldn’t be too bad if I prep everything beforehand.

Still…explains the need to put eat, sleep and shower on your list!

Waiting sucks. You’ll be happier in the long run though. I want to go trick or treating. 🙂

It gives me time to build some hype starting the first full week of November. This week is Halloween stuff. Maybe I’ll bring back the character interviews on Halloween, but I don’t know who I would put in the hot seat.

Biking is another great way for writers to get some exercise. 🙂
I’m probably guilty on the charge of your last paragraph. My rule is to comment when something comes to mind as I read a post, but not to rack my brain for it since I read a lot of posts. But I very often enjoy the posts that I don’t comment on. Of course, the interaction is useful to the blogger.
An interesting law on my blog is that I get many more comments, in general, when I don’t ask for any compared to when I do.

I’m hoping to keep the biking up. It’s getting tough because the bike is in the freezing cold basement and somebody turned it into a coat rack.
I have the same issue with comments and think that’s the norm. It makes interactive posts very difficult unless you hit that nerve. With character interviews, I think a lot of people think too much and try to remain story specific. They also fear spoilers, but those are easily handled.
I never noticed a pattern in the way I get comments. Seems to change by the day.

I liked the interviews – sometimes didn’t get a chance to ask questions, but I did enjoy them.

I think you should bring the interviews back!

The interviews should return the week after Halloween. Though, there might be a special interview before then. I really hope to get a lot of work done this week. So many delays and distractions.

I don’t know how you accomplish even half of what you do, Charles! Comments lean to bringing back the character interviews…and it’s helpful for you as well – so go for it!
