Frigid Morning Mumbles

Japanese Flying Squirrels

Japanese Flying Squirrels

It was not this cold
When I turned in
I think the heat is off
A house of varied body temps
The bill payer always wins
Leaving the rest of us
Shivering in our socks

I actually miss Florida
At least for the lack of chill
Waking up
To frost upon the skin
And clacking teeth
Because she stole the covers
Is no way to start the day

I wish to hide in warmth
Curled up until I thaw
Did I just see my breath?
The toilet is cold
And my toes are blue
Please let me stay in bed
Until the heat returns

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  2. I’m with you on this brisk fall morning. Except that I’m the bill payer and hate it so I keep it cool in the house.

We actually had our first cool night last night. It was a chilling 62 degrees. I had to put my fuzzy slippers on this morning and getting out from under the covers was hard. The a/c is still on and it is already up to 70 outside, so it looks like it is going to be a lovely weekend. That is why I tell people November and April are the two months to come to FL. The rest sucks.

I can most definitely relate, there. I can’t even stand looking out the window, here. Because all I’ll see is snow.
