I think I’m going to keep the above picture as my ‘Goal Posts’ pic for a while. I thought I had one of actual goal posts, but it’s gone. Oh well.
Last week was pretty good. The toddler had a full week of school, which meant a full week of 6AM wake ups. He’s the first on the bus, so there’s no delay. I’ve been getting his breakfast and lunch ready the night before, so it isn’t a terrible thing. Delays did happen though. I made a small oops in going back to bed on Wednesday. Tuesday was taken up with an outside distraction. Then it get really hot and muggy, so it was hard to concentrate.
I got 3 chapters of Legends of Windemere: Family of the Tri-Rune edited and got some editing of Legends of Windemere: Allure of the Gypsies done as well. I’m slowly getting up to my usually speed, but both of these books are pretty big. Allure of the Gypsies closes up a lot of plot points, shows the past of Luke, and kicks off the overall adventure. Family of the Tri-Rune does the same thing only it opens up more storylines too. Thankfully, the other books might be smaller in chapter section size. For example, the sections of Tri-Rune are 9-11 pages long (double-spaced; indented) and the sections of Compass Key are 4-7 pages long. I’m still afraid that I’m losing something doing that, but the scenes are tight and very action-packed. Seriously, book 5 deals with wars, invasions, grudge matches, and a trap-filled island.
As for the other goals, I got a few characters set up for Darwin’s story and kept up the promo work. I think my one post or 3 poems a day is helping and I’ve reduced my activity to focus on editing. I have noticed that my book excerpt posts get nothing, so I’m going to stop that. Means I have no idea what to do on Thursday. Anything with audience interaction or that I really wanted feedback on has fallen flat the last month or two. The questions work, but I do that on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Maybe I can use Thursday for character origins or WIP ideas. Not sure yet.
Here are the goals for this week:
- Continue editing Legends of Windemere: Family of the Tri-Rune and Allure of the Gypsies. If you didn’t see this coming then I welcome you to my blog.
- Watch the Giants game at 4:30 today. (Will edit while doing it unless go out to bar.)
- Treat toddler to Burger King after he gets his shot tomorrow. He loves fries, so they’re his reward.
- Cook a few dinners.
- More work on Darwin’s stories.
- Post a 7 poem series on CSB.
- Figure something out for Thursday.
A final note: I’m going to be having a book spotlight going up on the blog of Kristen Hope Mazzola. It goes up today at 9 AM EST. Keep an eye out for the reblog today.

Great post, and I love capybaras. So several thanks.

I like goal #4. 🙂 (The pic would also be great for an improving literacy campaign.)

That one should be fun, but a few complicated meals got picked. I regret making a list if what I could cook.

Good to see you getting your goals sorted and being positive again – fingers crossed that you manage to get everything done and I hope that whoever you want to win the game, wins the game! Ha. Oh, and save me some fries! 🙂

I hope we win too. Though we haven’t the best luck against the opposing quarterback. I make no promises about the fries. The toddler devours them.

still don’t know how you manage to do it…

Me too, but who knows. Just thought up a fun sneak peek for Thursday, but I’m still deciding. Those posts tend to go unnoticed on here and the CSB.

Here is to a Manning win! Peyton Manning that is! 😀 People probably don’t look at the excerpt posts because they don’t want to see spoilers. Those are posts I “like” but don’t read. I wait for the book.

Yeah, yeah. Peyton always wins these and we’re not looking too great after last week. Fingers are crossed, but I’ll be happy with a good game with no turnovers. Last week was terrible.
I can see that. I do pick scenes that don’t have any plot spoilers. One thing that gets tough is if I use a scene from a book way in the future that I haven’t even outlined yet. I think an issue is context too.

Eli will bounce back. They always start poorly, then the fire coughlin chants start and next thing you know Eli is MVP of the Super Bowl again. Got to have faith player!

I have faith, but I know the history. Giants can beat the unbeatable and lose to the worst team.

So can my Steelers. *sigh* This is going to be a very long year for them. Big Ben will be lucky to make it to week 6 healthy.

What’s wrong with him? Been focusing on the injured Giants and hoping JPP has an impact this season.

Half of his offensive line is some guy who was bagging groceries last week. We can’t run the ball, the defense is beyond old, and Big Ben got rocked last week already. He was lucky he could finish the game.
JPP should be a 15 sack guy. If he gets his head straight, he should be an absolute terror.

He had surgery in the off season, so I’m thinking a slow build. Last year they kept two guys on him. Hope he can handle that again. We got Brandon Jacobs back though. Should be interesting.

Lofty goals my friend, but I’m sure you will do it barring any unforeseen circumstances. 🙂

Fingers crossed. That means I’ll be typing with my nose. Though I’m at a 41 page chapter, which is going to take a while.

Glad to hear you’re getting some work in! I know you were feeling very run-down recently, so I’m hoping all things are coming together and that you’re finding the time to focus on things you want to focus on.
Fries are a good treat now and then.
And I still freaking LOVE that picture.

Time is still an issue. Mostly finding time to get a good night’s sleep.

Yeah, that’s a difficult one. I can’t tell you how badly I wish bodies didn’t need to sleep. As much as I enjoy it, I probably wouldn’t ever do it if I didn’t have to. Too much to do!

It sounds like you are getting into more of a rhythm…yeah. And you sound more settled. I don’t know how you do it?!? I hope you find time to get more sleep. I think you are doing a great job!

I do minimal sleeping. That’s the crazy key.

Just make sure you are getting enough sleep for you to stay healthy, Charles. If you don’t get enough you won’t be good for yourself or anyone else. Taking care of you has to come first before you can take care of others.

People keep telling me that, but people around me tend to say others come first. It’s one of the difficult parts of being in a house with other people.

It does make it hard when you have a family, but here’s the thing. If you don’t take care of yourself how the heck are you supposed to take care of all the other people who are depending on you. Sometimes, we have to care for our own needs first so that we can then take care of all the others who are depending on us. This can be really hard because of the demands placed on us by others. I think when we take care of ourselves (when it comes to health issues) we are then able to place others first. Does that make any sense?

I do understand that. The issue comes about when the other people don’t think that way. They wear you down until you’re exhausted, which tends to reveal that half the stuff you did wasn’t that essential anyway.

That is the VERY frustrating part!! I hope that one day it is realized that you are doing your very best to meet everyone’s needs, but that you need to meet your own needs too. I’m rooting for you Charles!!!
