Goldfish crackers
Whipped cream alone
Chips and fries galore
This is all you eat
Today I say no more
A bag of carrots
That you refuse
Yogurt that you request
We try them all
It’s become a patience test
Late afternoon
Your tummy roars
Still you will not dine
I have had enough
Today victory will be mine
Screaming from us both
Negotiating with tears
Stubborn to our cores
Bribery and denials
Our voices shake the doors
Eventually you give
As your tummy roars again
Chicken nuggets heat
As you wait upon a lap
Today you have been beat

ha… lovely! healthy eating is necessary for our well-being.. π

Yeah, but that argument doesn’t win with a 4-year-old. I’ve tried and he just says no. π¦

we all learn as we grow up, don’t we!? it is a beauty of childhood, to ask for sugary ice-creams and candies and oily fries..
I used to eat nothing but fried potatoes and noodles.. it took me a long time to develop a taste for green vegetables and other healthy stuff..

It’s easier as communication improves. He loves fries, so that’s a special treat when he can get it.

The waitress brought it especially for him because he loves whipped cream. Now he loves chocolate frozen yogurt.

Charles, a wise veterinarian once told me that mother nature will not let us starve. This principle works on kids as well as animals. If you offer something with nutritional value, it will eventually be consumed. It has worked for my four girls, and they actually prefer veggies and fruit. π

I was told that too. The result has been my son refusing lunch and dinner because he wanted a snack. He knows he’ll get breakfast the following morning, so he has willingly gone to bed hungry in an attempt to get the snack he wants.

:Disclaimer: Not a parent, only writes about being one: Have you tried sneaking some veggies / fruit into a yummy smoothie? With a dollop of whipped cream on top for extra temptation? XD

I did try that once. He inspected his food for some reason. He seems to know when I’m up to something with his food. It’s really coming down to a battle of wills until he figures out how this works.

Maybe some horror stories about scurvy? Or you could hype up the Bubonic plague to be a morality play of poor diet choices.

Would that work on a 4 year old?

Maybe if there was an accompanying power point. And perhaps this song in the background.

Uh-huh. I do need him to sleep at some point. The skull at the beginning would end it. With my luck, he’ll like the rats.
