My heart
The beating troublemaker
Inside my chest
He thinks for me
And causes confusion
I fall for girls
That he won’t let me talk to
I do good things
That he doesn’t explain
For once in my life
I would like to think
Without my heart
But then
I wouldn’t exist
This is another poem from my Israel trip when I was 18. Keep my age in mind when you read this. I was still in the love struck teenager phase.
About Charles Yallowitz
Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.
Ha! Loved that. You made me remember my poems which I used to write two years back.. think I must look for them.. they must be stowed somewhere around.
But seriously the poem well expresses a young man’s agony in search of love. A very sweet interpretation indeed. 🙂

Thanks. Searching for love is always agonizing. Guess it wouldn’t be so special if it was easy.

Yes, it seems like that only.

You must’ve been pretty wise back then. When I was 18, I couldn’t write a poem. 😆

I think I was lucky. Poetry was taught to me in school since elementary school. That was mostly small rhymes, haikus, and limericks.

I like the way the ending implies that heartless people don’t exist. 🙂

You were going to tell me about that sometime.

Yeah. Need to find time to tell you those stories like I promised.

You do!

I’ll be on a flight first thing in the morning to tell you the stories and then fly right back home. That might be more effective than Skype.

F*cking skype has been a huge pain in the ass ever since these storms started. I keep hanging up on everyone.

I know it acts up for me when a storm is in the area. Even if it isn’t a big storm.

Excruciatingly. Especially when you’re telling stories and get to the suspenseful part.
