Goal Post for Last Week of June

First, I’m supposedly rather bendy for a 32-year-old with a shrinking gut.  Apparently, the ability to fold my knees and lay down at the same time is considered flexible.  I was stretching in odd Spider-Man style positions since my back sooooo needed the stretch.

Anyway, my goals were half and half.  The big ones of the chapters, the outline, and the reading didn’t happen.  I didn’t even get one chapter done.  So, I need to refocus and do a little long-term planning.  I have 6 weeks before my son is home all day for a full 3 weeks, which will minimize my writing and blogging time.  I also have 6 chapters left to write of The Compass Key.  It’s still doable.

To that end, I’m going to do nocturnal writing.  10:30PM to whenever I’m too tired to go on, I write in the basement where I’m alone.  Yes, I’ll have WordPress on the computer, but that’s minor in terms of distractions.  That peace of writing without other people walking around, yelling at me, or threatening to burst into my zone.  It seems the truce between author and household has been broken.  Alterations must be made.

My goals for this week will be quite simple:

  1. Write 1 chapter of The Compass Key.
  2. Work more on the outline for Curse of the Dark Wind.
  3. Work a little more on The Slumber War.
  4. Exercise 30 minutes a day.
  5. Avoid snapping and breaking down in the face of distractions.
  6. Read more than a Chinese menu.

That’s really it.  I’ll even accept reading 3 menus from varied restaurants to say #6 was a success.  Anyway, that’s my post and I’m suddenly feeling very melancholic again.  That’s plain strange.  Hit like a bolt of lightning.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

(claps hands) Focus, my friend. Just kidding 🙂 Your weekly list (especially the menu options) seem very doable. I hope by moving to a more conducive writing space your melancholia will leave you be.

Maybe your melancholy is a result of your anticipation of failure. If so, think positive! You can do it!!! 😀

It’s good to reset your goals now and then, even if you don’t feel prompted to. I hope the new long-range plan helps!

We should leave you alone with yourself for a while. i get caught up in blogging and half the day has gone by and I have written maybe three paragraphs in my book. I am very distracted, but I rather enjoy it and it helps the time pass.
