I Love You, Cake

Dedicated to everyone who achieved their weekly goals, had a milestone, are ready to tackle a challenge this weekend, or just need cheering up.

You are the true centerpiece

To every wedding

You are the great reward

For living another year

You come in many sizes

And all are delicious

You come in many forms

Including rolls and sheets and towers

Your flavors are limitless

Even carrot is your type

You are not afraid of fire

Candles are your jewelry

You are our greatest friend

From the sinful dessert cart

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  3. One of the glories of my celiac/grain free lifestyle switch was discovering that coconut flour makes a divine chocolate cake. So, I can still love cake! Lovely post – thank you!

    • You’re welcome. Never heard of coconut flour. Where would I find that? I know my wife puts applesauce into her cake mixtures, but I forgot what it replaces.

      • I think the applesauce replaces the fat/butter? Coconut flour is a tricky beast. It requires three times the eggs/liquid of a normal recipe, but it is very nutrient dense – high fiber, low carb and high in protein. I get mine on Amazon (Coconut Secret raw organic), but I think it’s available at Trader Joes and Whole Foods. I live in the boonies, so Amazon is more cost-effective.

      • A Trader Joes just opened up a few months ago near our house. I’ve had to give them my wife’s picture to stop her from spending all our money there. πŸ˜‰
