Little gash on my finger.
How much longer will you linger?
Thriving where my pointer bends.
How can I ever make you mend?
It has been weeks since you appeared.
Are you infected as I feared?
I see growing red and raw.
Isn’t this pain against the law?
Every meal your rage cuts loose.
Will I ever enjoy fresh lemon juice?
I know one day your end will come.
Did I just get another one?
About Charles Yallowitz
Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.
This might be one of the most enjoyable poems I have ever read. Admittedly, I don’t have a strong affinity for poetry, but I can identify with this. Damaged digits + lemon juice = ugh! It’s enough to make me say, “I’m not cooking tonight. Looks like the family’s eating out!”

Lemon juice is one of the big things I use in cooking, so I know what you mean about giving up with damaged digits. Though, the worst is when I had to work with hot sauce and didn’t realize I had a papercut. I learned about it fairly quickly and hit a new octave. 🙂

Thanks. Hope you enjoy it. I’m hoping to have the sequel out within the next 1-2 months, but it depends on my cover artist. I’m not one to rush him considering how great the first one came out.
