I must be insane. I have spent the majority of my life writing in the realm of fantasy and science fiction. Occasionally, I have wandered over to pirates, wild west, and other genres, but I always held onto a magical element. Even ‘Catalysts’ has this even though I label it more as a horror than fantasy story.
So, today I am trying to write the beginning of my drama novella and I’m finding it really hard. I want there to be magic and action and everything that I feel comfortable with. I can feel the characters in my head laughing at this attempt to do something far removed from what I’m used to. Well, the villains are laughing and Clyde is definitely being a jerk about the entire thing. I keep getting into the writing zone and one of my magical characters tries to slip through the cracks into the story. It’s very rude and it’s making me sound like I deserve a padded room. Maybe I do and I’ll take it as long as I can keep writing.
Once Catalysts is over, I’m going to start posting the sections of ‘The Pen Name’ and see how that goes. It’s definitely starting out slow, but I’m trying to cushion that with cute humor and flirting between the two characters that I’ve introduced. Still, it’s going to be a long schlep through this one.

I think this sounds very fun! But then I like trying new ways of writing so much that I have a hard time specializing. I hope it’s lots of fun for you!

It’s definitely a fun experience, but it’s going a lot slower than my usual fantasy and Catalysts. I’m fighting more than a decade of writing about magic, dragons, and warriors. Though, I’m getting more comfortable with every section.

Thanks. I’ll hopefully be done before Catalysts is done being posted, so I can start posting the drama around then.

Looking forward to that!
