People might be wondering how to give an artist hope. Here are some suggestions:
- Actually interact with their art. Read their books, listen to their music, look at their paintings, etc.
- Give compliments even if you also want to give some criticize.
- While it may feel superficial, ‘likes’ on social media don’t go unnoticed.
- Suggest their art to other people, especially if you know someone who would like it.
- If you can afford it and want it, pay for their art instead of asking to get it for free or pirating it.
- Write a review.
- Send a fan letter.

Thanks for this. A great reminder.

Important points, too often just ignored by the superficiality of so many interactions with art these days.

We would all love this. I long ago decided if I were to review a book, I would buy it – to give the author a boost.

Great tips. Love the image used with this post. I always shake my head when people make assumptions about pricing (even for editorial work). Yet people still pay for movies and streaming services, which are the fruit of the creativity of others.
Yes, we notice likes and reviews.
