Happy Winnie the Pooh Day!

Today is National Winnie the Pooh Day because it’s also A.A. Milne’s birthday.  I was thinking of what to post for it since I remember watching the Disney movie of Pooh Bear a lot as a kid.  I even had a 100 Acre Wood game on the computer way back in the 1980’s, which involved finding missing items.  No moving graphics and totally old school compared to today.  That made me think of noting my favorite as a kid and the one I relate to more as an adult:

Kid– Tigger because I was always bouncing around and happy.  I mean, most kids loved Tigger with his high energy and song.

Adult– Eeyore because he’s not that happy, but still does stuff and socializes.  He finds moments to be happy while not letting it go too far.  Eeyore strikes me as a pessimist with anxiety and some depression, but he’s not letting it destroy him.

So, who is your favorite Winnie the Pooh character?

    I love the original books with the original drawings. I love Tigger, he reminds me of my young grandsons when they have just arrived and bounce around the house. And who couldn’t love poor Eeyore. We had various AA Milne quotations in my family, such as ‘At least we haven’t had an earthquake’.

      I think we have an original book somewhere around here. Stumbled onto others like ‘Peter Pan’ and I’m fairly certain I found Pooh Bear when I was younger. My family never did the quotations though. We did quote Marx Brothers and Mel Brooks a lot.

    My daughter has many of the old books with the original illustrations. I like Eyore because I can do his voice when I’m reading it. My grandson loves Tigger – we came in those costumes to his last birthday party!

    I like Pooh, but Tigger is such fun.

    Wise old Owl, too.

    Interestingly, last summer we went to a falconry display. They were also flying and owl. The person in charge told us that owls have their reputation for wisdom under false pretences. They are, in fact, not that intelligent and fall way behind most other raptors.

    I always sympathized with Piglet, because he was so nervous and had to make himself brave. But I was probably like Owl, who thinks he knows more than he does.
