There is a more ghost-specific Q3 coming at the end of the month, but I thought of some interesting seasonal questions. Let’s dive right into it.
- Why do you think some people like being scared?
- Why do you think October was picked as the month for spookiness? (Alternate: Why do you think Halloween and Samhain were put here?)
- What is your favorite spooky monster?
About Charles Yallowitz
Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.
Never could figure out that first one, but some people really dig it. #2 is the changing of the seasons. A complete edit from Spring and Summer into what’s coming. I don’t know that I have a favorite, but the headless horseman is high on my list.

My best guess for #1 is the adrenaline rush from being scared.

I get it with the boredom thing. I prefer comedy and action though.

I think some people like being scared since they get an adrenaline rush which they find pleasant.
October was picked as the month for spookiness since the chillier weather is conducive to goosebumps?
My favorite spooky monster is Freddy Krueger. That skin and those stiletto nails are enough to give me the shivers.

You might be right about the goosebump connection. Makes sense to me.

I wonder if the veil thing stems from it getting darker earlier in the day.

Quite possibly.

So, would sky-watching cause a bigger focus on spooky stuff? It’s just odd that this short period of time gets associated with that. Is it all due to Halloween and Samhain or something else?
