So, I was going to do a specific animal post. Not sure which animal, but I was going to take one off my list. Then, I noticed that it was World Wildlife Day. Why focus on one animal when I can show pictures of some of my favorites? There are so many animals out there and I’m sure there are some I’ve never heard. So, share your favorite animals in the comments.

Binturong (Smells like popcorn)

Tiger (Loved them since I was a kid)

Capybara (Seen them once in person and want to see them again one day)

Otters ( I think I took this shot)

Wolf (Always drawn to this one)

Humpback Whale Breaching (Didn’t get a good shot of this when I saw them over the summer)

Parrot (Any parrot since they’re fun to watch)

Frilled Running Lizard (Another childhood favorite)

I would love to see a capybara, especially with babies. when I was a child we had guinea pigs. Many years later I heard about ‘giant guinea pigs’ – capybaras perhaps don’t look exactly like guinea pigs ( cavies ), but they are close relatives apparently and the world’s largest rodents. They certainly sound jolly.

They would be fun to see. Saw some once long ago in a zoo. They were big and just sleeping.

Great choices, Charles. I love bald eagles, sloths, white tigers, and otters. I guess there are too many of my ‘likes’ to count!

White tigers are interesting. Saw one a few years back at a zoo. Read that those in the wild rarely survive to adulthood because of their coloration, so captivity is the only place they can really live.

Wish a zoo near me had capybaras.

Too many to count. One that lives here that I’ve never seen is the wolverine.

I have a wolverine post coming up in April. I’d love to see one of those.

I’m sure they’ve seen me. They’re a lot like mountain lions, but I have seen them before.

I like all animals, but I guess my favorite is the Cheetah. All yours are terrific too.

Thanks. Cheetah are really cool. Keep hoping I can get 2 tickets to the cheetah encounter at the Bronx Zoo. Every time I check, they only have one ticket left, which I can’t take since my son would be too nervous to go alone.

Besides it would be more fun with both of you there.

I saw a capybara once in France. I wasn’t aware they were there, but it was definitely one. They are either releases or escapees.

Interesting. They’re not from that area, so I assume an escapee.
