(Not really sure of where this one came from. It might have been a fantasy concept, but I think it’s more about people who go unnoticed. These are the ones who watch what is going on, but don’t draw any attention. When they pass away, nobody knows their stories or even notices.)
You pass them by
Unseen eyes that never blink
Absorbing every sight
Without joining in the fray
You will never hear them
And barely sense their stare
These forgotten watchers
Born only to observe
And waste away in shadows
With none to tell their tale

Just perfect, Charles. Not someone you want to be.

Your poem evokes a sense of mystery and contemplation, shedding light on those often overlooked and unnoticed individuals who quietly observe the world. It’s a poignant reminder of the untold stories that exist around us, hidden in plain sight. Thank you for sharing this thought-provoking piece.

Love this analysis. I usually just write and let the words flow. Thank you for the response.

Great observation! Why writers write sometimes.

A very poignant poem. In a way, it makes me think of the Watcher in Marvel comics who observes but doesn’t interfere.

Kind of. He accepted that job though. I was going more for those on the outside who aren’t allowed in.

This almost sounds like a spy to me. Watching and reporting… to whom?
