Questions 3: Superpowers vs Magic vs Psionic

Scarlet Witch

I was thinking of doing a long post comparing these three, but I think I’ve done that before.  Looking at the Scarlet Witch picture, I realized that she is a character who kind of has all three categories.  It really depends on the writer though.  So, I figured I’d open the floor and let people get creative.  At least I hope so since these posts tend to not go the way I planned.

  1. Would you want to have superpowers, magic, or psionic abilities?
  2. Why did you pick that one?
  3. Which one do you think is the least interesting and why?

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

    1. This feels like rock, paper, scissors. 😊Isn’t Superman weak to magic? So magic or psionic ability would seem to be the way to go. Someone with psionic ability can tap into the mind of someone with super powers and trick that person into harming himself or herself. Nevertheless, I would go for super powers like Storm has.
    2. Because I like Storm’s abilities. 😊
    3. I can’t honestly say any of the three is not interesting. But since I have to answer the question, I would go with psionic abilities, because you can more readily see the results of magic and super powers.

  2. 1. Superpowers.
    2. I love magic, and I love writing about it, but for myself I’d pick superpowers because I’m lazy and magic is harder work. My MC is lazy too and he’s always trying to cut corners, which makes his magic go wrong.
    3. Psionic. Still interesting, but not as much as the first two.

  3. I can’t play by these rules. I think they’re all interesting and would be thrilled to have any one of them. An edge in modern society would be wonderful.
